I'm one of those sim file markers who submit simfiles over 10mb back in v6.0.
I submit simfiles with high quality videos (maximum video size 10mb) and 2 backgrounds. The mp3 just normal as usual.
If you can or considered, Make the filesize limit more than 10mb?
Then if it can't be done or accepted... I just use an alternative way, hehe...
Thanks in advance for the response.

Maximum file size exceeded. File may be no larger than 10485.76 KB (10485760 bytes).
| Well that is the limit as of now...
It just weird... There was no limit in the last version. No problems of uploading 10mb or more. Except problem for updating a simfile that is over 12mb. Quote: |

| It actually lowered... Last time I saw on v6.0 it was 12k KB around there.
-If I was wrong about the v6.0 limit size, err my mistake- | |

"Oh, I hope there is a video on that simfile"
Especially on Anime Simfiles... hehe.
Cause when I see a simfile with a video seems complete. Even crap steps on a difficulty or more, at least there is a video. (either to steal or enjoy). Well, this is for pad steps and people who play for fun on sims not "I gonna AAAA This". It gives a good challenge too. To test your ignorance skill, hehe.
LOL, a video a keyboard steps just gonna kill... so thats out of the video question.
Another point on videos, give us previews of the new Anime shows that might come to USA or Licensed. Thats for Anime. Also the same with other categories.
BTW... I always submit a simfile with a video that is my "motto" or goal.
---
Maybe there should be a video option while submitting a simfile?
A link to a video for download? But you can include that in description, pretty pointless.
My suggestion...

My suggestion... | If it is for a pad simfile, then absolutely, definitely always include a video! They make them more exciting! | |

Why is 10MB too big? Bandwidth? Disk space? | |

But...
The .mp3 & .ogg have many quality kbps (48-320). So, eee...
Oh well, 10mb is good even number.
---
Right now, using megauploads and rapidshare for extenal links for the Video and Graphics now (check my simfiles to see)... I hope that not cause a problem.
hehe... now all my simfiles are less than 3 MB and avg. of 1.8 MB. | |

In reality, unless you're uploading videos with the simfile, 10MB is more than enough, like Keith said. A 6:15 song encoded at 192Kbps CBR MP3 is about 8.5-9.0MB, depending on a few factors. Your banner and background image shouldn't take up more than 100K, and your .SM/.DWI files shouldn't take up more than 10K a piece. This still adds up to less than 10MB. Most songs in the simfile database aren't 6 minutes long, and they don't have any real extras that should take up a ton of space (readme's, CD titles, etc.).

...but 10 megs is in most cases more than fair, i guess. | |
