64 MB for a 2-minute file? Don't you think it is kinda large to download?

Why not release one with better compression?

Because it's not the biggest file in the media shop. That's one of the minor issues with videoes.

Someone once asked me why some of the videoes weren't encoded with the latest DIVX codecs and what-not (for size and quality), but it's a much bigger pain in the butt forcing people to download the latest decoders, and in some cases will not work with their computers. The videoes as they are now get the least amount of complaints in terms of compatibility.

Why not just mirror or link to a codec package that has all of the necessary codecs for the Media Shop and have a link to it on the main page, saying something to the effect of "Download this to guarantee compatibility with our videos".

I'm thinking Xvid at 1000kbps (which is pretty HQ) would be good enough - with additional filtering to decrease blocks, blurs, sharpen images. That's roughly 25-30MB... I think I'll mess around with the video and see what I can do with it just as a test run. I'll run it past one of the higher ups for approval
