Hey, do you guys remember the old simfile making guides from 6.0?
I think it was one of those or something that had a link to this utility for finding BPMs, where you'd tap the spacebar for each beat, and as you would more accurately tap the beat of the song, this little metronome it had would click more closely to the beat of the song you're hearing, so that as you tap you get more and more accurate. I believe I used it to get the BPM of a song within about 1/100 of a BPM (the song was ridiculously long, and was accoustic, so you had to get a very accurate BPM for the sync to stay until the end of the song; the best gap to use was also a real bitch to find, too). What the hell was that thing called? Where on the intarweb can I find it? I've been using google, and I keep finding all these crappy tools that automatically find the BPM, or ones that use key tapping, but no cool metronome thing, so you can't sync the BPM audially. I would love and cherish anybody who might be able to provide me with some information regarding this BPM thingie. o.o

| Yes, Akira, I lurk plenty, and I've read the new sticky for simfile creation. I was asking about the old one, not the new one, if you had bothered to actually read my post. I'm not satisfied with the BPM tools mentioned in the new sticky, hence, I was asking if any of the other users on these forums remembered what I was talking about and if they could provide any links to me.
So, again, guys, do you have any idea where I can find what I'm looking for?

But I don't know what tool you're talking about either.

Unless, of course, you were looking for the program TougaKiryuu just linked to. That was actually talked about in the sticky already.

It didn't open files. It didn't save anything. All you did was play your music, listen to it on your speakers, and tap the spacebar to your music. The only thing the program did was average the taps of your spacebar to calculate the BPM within 1/100 of a BPM, and (here's the key part) while it did it, it had a metronome tick going that reflected the calculated BPM, so you could listen to the tick at the same time as the song and see how accurately you were on the beat.
I tried the DDReam thing, didn't even bother to figure out how to use it. C'mon guys, does nobody remember any of the 6.0 stuff? Don't have any of it saved?
And Toga, you should've read, just like Akira:
"I'm not satisfied with the BPM tools mentioned in the new sticky"
I.e., I tried them and didn't like them (DDReam and dancing monkeys and whatnot). They were all mentioned in that thread.

| Sesshy, you're probably looking for "WinBPM". Google it. Of course, I have a passionate bias towards DDReam, but there you have it
EDIT: DDReam *can* do things similarly to WinBPM. Just open/play the song, and type "B" instead of spacebar at each beat, for as long as you want. Then press "A". Voila, there's your average BPM.
