Default Attacks on Beatmania for s3

I know last year we decided that our precious beatmania will never appear on the PS3 for reasons based on Konamis revenue in doing that, but maybe we should try and be optimistic........

not many ps3 owners at the moment and I still have the ps2 for the sole reason of playing beatmania and popn music, but its only a matter of maybe 2 years till the ps2 is dead. How many of you played your old Beatmania 'mixes' on the ps1 after IIDX came out on PS2? Im not sure, but i guess not a lot.

If beatmania never converts to PS3, then we have to accept that Beatmania, and ultimately most of Bemani's home market product is going to have disappeared very soon.

And lets all be honest, that would f*#$ suck.
So I for one and dead hoping there is going to eventually be Beatmania on the PS3. Im not going to play the ps2 forever.

any thoughts? If not we can close the topic

Eh, the IIDX series would probably stay on PS2 for another few years unless the PS3 install base gets big enough and they sell appropriate converters to use the controlles on the PS3.

But maybe they're saving beatmania III for the PS3.

...Dammit, I wish that were actually possible.

For many things, it would stop piracy on the product. With a region free system, Konami would be seeing more sales from over seas players. Sharing of game data, and sharing of high scores just like on RED and above would be more easier. I say by IIDX 17 CS, we'll see a PS3 release hopefully.

Perhaps they could add new songs online for download for a few bucks a song
New courses, videos, skins. I think with the online improvements with the ps3, there is potential for music games.
I know it is stupid to expect Konami to release all songs on a single game to make us happy as it will cut the sales on other styles. But perhaps when the PS2 has died and the other styles are a thing of the past, we may be able to get such a thing.

I just hope Konami keeps pumping out CS versions for people in countries like me that dont really ahve beatmania in the arcade.

I remember when i got 6th style and was informed that 7th was probably a long shot. Now we are up to 14.

Downloaded content would be terrible, because anyone outside of Japan wouldn't have access to it. At least, that's how I've been lead to believe it works.

I don't see Konami going down that road anyway. They tried it with the Xbox DDRs, and it didn't do too well...or did it? I've always just assumed it didn't.

Well they're still releasing DDR's on the 360, Universe 2 is coming out pretty soon or did already come out? I don't remember.

I actually just got a PS3, and I did hear it's region free. Is it region free for PS2 and 3 games or just 3?

I wouldn't mind seeing Beatmania move to PS3 but of course that would mean new controllers. Like said earlier, I don't see happening anytime soon, but I do think it's possible for the future.

Only PS3 games. Also, why would you want a new controller, knowing this generations prices on hardware, it'd probably cost a lot.

As for downloadable content, It would only be available to Japan, so you'd have to wait for a US release for any of those ideas^^^^

However, due to the lack of region protection, it might be as easy as simply getting your japanese reading buddy to help you on either the sony online shop in japan or the konami site and downloading the stuff onto your harddrive.
Would you have to wait for US release stuff in the way of extra songs, or would you just need to browse it on a japanese web site and download from there.
The PS3 is so easy to use on the net and its damn easy to download extra stuff [at least whats available] at the moment for previous games like ridge racer 7 etc.
Its definately region free, so the only problem [as i see it] is not reading japanese.

On the PS3 you CAN create multiple accounts for different regions. Myself for example have an American, Euro, and Asian accounts. I can log onto any account and get the exclusive content from the store, and still use that downloaded content on my American account.

Example: I download a PS1 game in Japense. I can still log back into my American name/account, and use it.
It would be the exact same thing with downloadable content for beatmaniaIIDX.

I totally agree with you and it's all probably most true. Approaching beatmaniaIIDX 20th style, I'd say that KONAMI's BEMANI series should be ready for the SWITCH. xD

...however, SONY had better re-release the PS3 with the EE chip (which probably won't happen anyway) in order to allow us to play all of our PS1/PS2 games without the compatibility problems that the later PS3 models (use emulation software) have....maybe they'll make a PS3 slim model that'll have everything fixed.

As for future BEMANI game releases (especially IIDX), I REALLY don't like the idea of new online downloads of songs/skins/etc.; I'd rather have to clear impossible DAN courses to unlock stuff rather than having to download the stuff that SHOULD have already been included on the game disc. I like the idea of everything being unlockable on the actual game disc...*reminisces of Giant Looper* <_<

Oh, I don't want to buy new controllers. I have my KOC's and my Dao so I'm set when it comes to controllers. That would be the only downside for me.

Also, yeah downloadable content for IIDX or any other Bemani game for that matter might not be so great. Let's keep the greed and what not over on Harmonix's end.

Guys no one in their right mind would spend the ridiculous amount of money for IIDX on PS3 unless by the time it happened (IF IT DOES HAPPEN) the PS3 has already grabbed a huge market share and has gone down in price. Think about it. $400 for the console ALONE, $60-70 for shipping the game over here, plus the same amount OR MORE for a controller that would actually work with the PS3 without horrific lag (or have they fixed PS2 to PS3 controller converters yet?).

Don't be idiots.
