Bar raping: Angst against those who do it ALL THE TIME.

Is it alright for me to not agree to bar raping during songs and tell others not to abuse it so much? I understand with some songs it may be required to hold onto the bar (i could think the constant crossovers in Healing D Vision Oni ending). Others seem to do it for every song or song they consider too hard.

I've been playing for 6 years from a 4th Mix originally. I never bar raped then and of course there were no speed mods to abuse. Even now i never use speed mods in any songs, even with trying to AAA stuff. These things are just handicaps to make the game easier. I mean no one really dances while tied to a bar (and i guess no one really dances while following arrows that come up on a screen either lol)

I could understand bar raping just enough to understand how the steps go for newer songs then wean off of it, but then that's never the case either. Many stay with it always.

Is it alright that I look down and try to encourage not using the bar so much for other players? I mean i'm over 300 lbs but i guess that just makes me more sturdy then other players when playing 9s and 10s? lol

I don't know, many players take pride in their perfect scores while raping, and i look down on that believing it doesn't count unless they do it without it, at least not during the entire song <.<

I probably shouldn't nitpick what other people do, as long as they're having fun anyway <.< >.>

It really doesn't matter that much. If it bothers you THAT badly, just take pride in getting better without using the bar than the players that do use it.

I'm a no bar player for the most part. The only songs I bar at the difficult 10's, but that's because it's more comfortable for me. I CAN do 10's without the bar, I just choose not to.

I don't look down on someone who uses the bar. Though I do think 3x bar on a 7 footer is a little silly, it's their dollar to spend how they want. It has no consequence on me positive or negative.

In other news, this argument is as old as DDR is.

I only bar rape for 10+ footers (sometimes really hard 9s).

It's the player's preference whether or not he wants to bar rape for however hard a song. Of course I would look down on bar raping for songs under 9 feet *coughitgplayerscough* since it's completely unnecessary.

I'm a very unhealthy eater. Tacos and Cheeseburgers and Cheesesteaks and stuff XD

And i figure throw in any leg muscle mass that may have increased o.x

Honestly, i could probably do all the 10 footers if stamina didn't come into play. I make it pretty far in Max 300 Super Max Me And You , My Friend Mix (whatever its called exactly) on Heavy/Expert, I could do PS without any problems, could AA occasionally back in Extreme, but with the 950000 being the record for AA, i haven't been able to reach that point x.o Still haven't beaten Legend of Max, but i got within the last 10 seconds >< That was some time ago, i probably wont get that far without practice again.

If you watch me play, you'll see where it starts to go downhill or when i just give up, but from the start you'll probably see a ton of perfects/marvelouses and a 200+ combo before i start screwing up/to tired to continue on the harder songs.

I actually wonder how silly I look doing the spinning gallops in Saturn... >_>

Why does this matter? Konami put a bar there for a reason. Sure, it isn't well to bar rape, but what is the definition of bar rape? To what extent can you handle watching it? I use the bar in 8+ footers because it helps me drain less stamina and it also is because I don't go there much. I'm used to playing on a soft pad with no bar for 3 years, now I'm starting to get used to the metal pads with the bar. The bar, to me, is there for harder songs that almost require it and for songs like Pluto or Chaos and which you can stop but use the bar so you won't fall off yet stay on the beat.

I wonder what the OP thinks of doubles bar raping, or if she has even ever seen it. It's comical, but a lot of times necessary.

I've never seen doubles bar raping. Not too many people play doubles around here. Those who do play the 10 footers, they don't bar rape them.

I have seen this video on Youtube with someone doing Canon D Nightmare in PiU without the bar o.o Maybe its just easier on PiU with the 5 panels since your feet don't move that far, and it wasn't exactly filled with the weird doubles crossovers that some DDR songs get.

I don't play Doubles myself. Not into paying double the money to play DDR. That and i don't think my body could handle it lol. Could be worth a try someday.

I use the bar all the time, but mainly because of the speed mods I use. If I go barless, I have to use a lower speed mod since I cannot react as quickly for turns or crossovers. Even the easy NM charts in PIU can have tricky and/or sudden pad transitioning, and sometimes DDR doubles are even more awkward. The pad-crossing isn't as weird as the ones in PIU, but they are A LOT more frequent from my experiences.

Since I play doubles more than singles nowadays, the bar is a necessary evil for a majority of the songs I play.

I don't like the who from start to finish, both arms behind your back lifting your body so that you can hit the arrows, especially when it can be done without. Sure you'll get your AA on your 10, but at the cost of your dancing soul!

If you need to hold onto the bar to keep your balance I understand, or if the steps get really crazy or require quick shifting movements (like i had said, fast crossovers in Healing D Vision Oni for example)

To be honest, only song i've tried to bar rape was Fascination Maxx due to it being extra stage and backwards and me being unfamiliar with it.

Now that with SN2 i can actually play it normally as it should be played, so its not hard to follow now.

I don't use speed mods myself. I originally came from 4th Mix which didn't have them, so i don't use them on any songs. I do use them at home though when I play on the controller. I could never find a pad to satisfy me outside of Arcade pads, but for my weight, i guess Arcade is all that can take me lol.

I'll agree that doubles bar-raping is occasionally necessary. I try to play double as much as a I can without the bar, but some songs you just need to use it.
