Free Audio Editing Suggestions?

I'm interested in cutting songs to get them under a 2:00 limit, both for use on ITG r21/r23, and just to make them feel more like edits you'd find in a game. Unfortunately, my money has to go to other things than audio software, especially since I'm not doing anything fancy. Just splicing and such.

Any suggestions on free software that might be of use here?

I use Goldwave: GoldWave v5 Download
Audacity is OK too, but Goldwave has more functions.

Audacity is FREEWARE
Goldwave is SHAREWARE (and no, don't even suggest the use of pirated software)
