Default Have a dell problem..need help badly.

Heh.. Anyways.. Down to the chase, I resently had a friend offer me 50 dollars to fix his computer, he said he didn't have internet and he "ghetto reformatted" his hard-drive.. So I took the liberty of unpartitioning his hard-drive and re partitioning it and install Windows XP Home edition on there like he had in the first place..

As is well.. Im at the desktop now, ready to install his network drivers which he nicely put on a disk for me ( the model number incase you are wondering is the Dell Dimension 2350 )

So..I upload the drivers off of the CD and run the Exe like I normally would, I get the system file for it just like I would for any old computer ( done it amillion and a half times with all the boxes I have..

Okay.. now.. Here we go.. Go to the device manager, notice the icon that says its not installed correctly, find it on the list.. Blah blah blah.. I said " I will choose the location, no need for you to look. "

Heres where it all goes WRONG..
Dells stupid ass decided to set the system information up as a Ethernet Controller, but in the device manager while picking what kind of product it is.. Theres nothing called an Ethernet Controller! Only a Network Device.. So, I decide to try installing it anyways, ( I needed the money badly! ) And still, no good.. I've never had this problem so complex before, but now because of dells piece of no good crap they call an onboard NIC card or whatever they want to call it ( Ill call it their metal scraps ) I can't fix it, and I can't get my money!

I was hoping to buy IIDX!
Please help a fellow bemani member and Bemani style gamer get some money in his pocket!

Thanks

( sorry if this is the wrong place for it, I considered it would go in here.. )

The problem is quite simply youre doing it wrong.

Once you run the EXE installer, reboot the computer. If the computer doesnt detect the nic, then go into the device manager right click on the network controller (which is also likely to be a wireless device, LAN controllers usually come up as "ethernet controller" where WLAN controlelrs come up as "NETWORK CONTROLLER" and uninstlall the bastard. Try and let it detect its drivers first.) If nothing else works, try and use a USB NIC to get on the internet and get the official driver from the website of the people that made the controller, dont even bother with the OEM dell driver as its probably a year outdated and a piece of garbage anyway. You dont want anything to do with it.
