Default The iPhone

I'm surprised I haven't seen a thread on this on the forums, so here it is, feel free to discuss your thoughts on the issue of the new I-phone. I'm not to sure whether it's worth the time or money to buy. I have been looking at the website and it's features are nice, but well the price is....yeah... I don't even want to know

Here is the main site for the: Apple - iPhone phone

and the specs: Apple - iPhone - High Technology - Tech Specs

An 8GB Ipod Nano + 3-G phone???

Hmm...I don't know yet. It feels like something is missing. Perhaps a comparo of this (against the Nokia N95 and Sony Ericsson 5-megapixel phone) should help.

Since I have a job interview today, I'll decide whether or not to put some money down on this thing.

Its not even a 3G phone. Its EDGE, so its only 2.5G.

Further, the V3xx from Motorola can do every single thing the iPhone can do, just without a touch screen. plus it does a bunch of things that are really impressive because the iPhone wont do them:
Act as a modem?
Act as a disk drive?
Removable media?
3G networks?
Stream Video?
Run Applications that have access to the hardware?

Seriously. Apple killed the iPhone because its not going to have any good crappy little games for it. Its also not going to have alternate web browsers or special apps that do functions that the phone is going to need a year down the road because its a closed platform. Apple made the wrong decision taking that road with the iPhone. Users are not going to be happy with their decision to purchase an iPhone when they find out that they will not be able to get tetris on the iPhone.

Also, anyone seen the articles about arrogant apple and their problems finding a European carrier? Yeah. Exactly.

I was tempted, but then I noticed that you can't use it as a disk drive, which is what I use my Sony Ericsson for.

That really sucks.

Interesting thing I found: In Pictures: Why You Don't Want An iPhone - Forbes.com

I just don't think Mac software on a mobile phone is the best. It's all nice on a computer, but I don't think Mac is cut out for mobile phones.
