I was in line and the person in front of me got the last phone in the store. I ordered it so hopefully it comes this week.

Aside from the fact that it looks stupid, it will scratch like an iPod and won't match your iPod (I just know there will be people carrying both). | |

I personally dont trust it...we'll see though... Apple iPhone (4GB) Reviews. Smart phones Reviews by CNET.
Not sure how biased this is since the phone was JUST released, but cnet did give it a 8/10. There are a ton of negative reviews from users but theres a 95% chance they're all biased.

Hard drive requires more battery power for its motors reading/writing heads. The Iphone uses flash memory so there is significantly less power consumption there.
Personally I am not particularly fond of the phone itself, but more of what it can do for apple's stock price.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | Im a counselor at a summer camp right now, and one of the kids here has an iphone. He had to wait hours and hours in a line in a mall to discover that they would activate it in a day, then had to go on an airplane, then once it was activated he was in a car on the way here, then once he gets here we have to take it away from him until the designated times he can use it.
ITS WHAT YOU GET FUCKER
and when i say that i mean little to no offense, the kid is cool. Its just what you get for buying apple stuff (he has another 2 ipods at home and didnt bring any of them, thinking he could just use his iphone.)

But the fact nearly 200,000 iphones have been sold already, seems promising. Lets just hope theres not some gigantic bug with the phone
But still even 20 hours for a cell phone to me doesn't seem like a really good thing to me. I like phones that only need to be charged once every 2 or 3 days. Nothing beats my old nokia phone. That thing only needed to be charged once a week. It was awesome

those smashers need some help. they better get a life.
btw it's too bad that the phone doesn't have a 3G.

btw it's too bad that the phone doesn't have a 3G. | ever seen this youtube video of some guys buying an XBOX (the first one) on the day it came out and then smashing it with a sledge hammer in the parking lot right in front of Target? Yeah those people are definitely need lives. It will always happen with the gadget of the year, im sure that has happened with ps3, xbox360 and wii where people think they can feel above all others by destroying something other people cherish. Really pointless if u ask me.

I ask because I'm not exactly sure how much energy the touch panel uses, and the logistics seem fairly consumptive to me
Also, Apple only sources the battery life under OPTIMAL settings (i.e. the iPod will last 20 hours, granted you just put the thing on play, put it on hold, and don't touch it), much like any other business would, ergo we need to ask this rather - what is the practical lifetime on this phone? Also, is Apple using the same brand battery that they use in the iPod? If so, god I can't wait to see these stop holding their charge in 4-5 months!
All in all, i'm not too impressed with the phone, on that note i'm rarely impressed with anything that Apple puts out, much for the same reasons as DieKatze, it's not practical, nor reliable (the second one is based off of my experience). I use my phone to text and talk to people, and I use my Zune to listen to my music, I've got no qualms with the two being separate, and I view this as similar to a VCR/DVD/TV combo - if one breaks, you're fucked. (I.E. It's easier to replace one unit, that is not part of a combo)
