Making a simfile

I have started making a simfile for StepMania. And I've gotten farely far in it, but I want to change the beat. How do I change the beat without messing up the steps?

What do you mean by "change the beat"? There are several things you can do, depending on what you want to accomplish:

You can change the note size by pressing right or left.

You can adjust the sync with F7/F8 or F11/F12. Alt-... makes smaller changes, ie 0.001s offset or 0.001 bpm changes.

You can delete or insert a whole note by pressing "return" and choosing insert or delete. Those operations only affect the current stepchart and only work for whole notes.

If you want to delete a smaller fraction, highlight a window of the size you want (1/16th note wide, for example), choose "Convert selection to pause", and then remove the pause using F7. You can do the opposite using F8 and "Convert pause to beats".
