Is it possible to still AA 12s without using thumbs?

It has always been a dream of mine to pass 12s at the arcade and get an A score at the arcade I always go to... Basically every tatsujin I've ever seen has the person using thumbs...

I've tried for awhile to get used to thumbs and the right side (since some of the higher scoring guys at my arcade tell me that I shouldn't play right side if I'm right handed...) but I really can't do it, it's not in my system at all.

So far I can only A easy 10s like Little Little Princess[7k] and Resonate[7k]. I recently accomplished destroying my 11 wall by passing Scorpion Fire[7k] but I got a B on it. I was just wondering if there were any other people who don't use thumbs much and can still get decent scores on 11s and 12s. I'm starting to think that the only 12 I will able to be pass is GAMBOL[a] although it's sort of a joke, since I can already A that. <_<

I just need some motivation, because the people at my arcade always seem to get decent scores on hard songs, but they give me advice that I absolutely cannot seem to do. Playing on the right side makes me feel like I'm playing IIDX with my toes... Attempting to use my thumbs on even LIGHT songs makes me fail really early on.

I've seen someone get a AA with 2 FINGERS(may have not been a 12, but it was around a 9[a] If i remember correctly) And if someone can do that I'm sure you can do it without thumbs. What would i know though, i play with thumbs =D

very possible to AA and hard clear, though not for all 12s.

Its possible to pass some 12's without using thumbs. AA'ing though? Im almost certain thats impossible.

I have the same exact problem you do. Basically, you need to start getting used to using your thumbs (including your left one, which is a problem for me still).

Any playstyle can be adapted to fit the situation you need. Even though I'd definitely recommend getting your thmbs involved, it's by no means physically impossible to do well without them. You'll just need to make the way you play more flexible and versatile to make up for it.

Check out Chickensnack (CHKN) on VJ Army. If you ever watch his videos he doesn't use thumbs at all. Although I don't agree with his playstyle he is way better than me. He's AAA'd all but a handful of songs in IIDX now and they're all 12s. Seriously, he is a beast.

Wow, after looking at all his tatsujins at least once before, I didn't know he played no thumbs, since he only made one video showing only his hands doing sphere[a].

wow, is he just laying his right index finger on 5? otherwise that's like how i play, except i use my right index to go back and forth between 4 and 5 (gets crazy sometimes). at least i don't feel so much like changing my play style now.

I use my right thumb fairly often. I mainly use it for 5 when my other fingers are hitting 4 or 6. I recommend at least learning that much, its probably the easiest for the thumb to do these, and it really saves awkwardness a lot.

I think there was a player by the name of GH that played with really weird non- thumb using styles? He was pretty good with it too. I think he AAA innocent walls [a] that way, or at least got real close.
