Thumbs down PSP Stepmania

The advent of PSP has made me wonder if I, with 1 gig memory stick in tow, could compile the stepmania code for PSP. Seems like it would be wonderful. I was going to parallel post on 6.0, but theres bandwidth exceeded.

Now, listen. I saw a thread like this on Didderfreak, and some asshat mod locked it, saying it was out of the realm of possibility. Its not. Nothing is out of the realm of possibility.

Basically, this is my cry for help. I'm trying to co-ordinate the project, but I can't seem to get on the Stepmania forums... DDRmaniax, whatever. I need the SDK. Badly. I'm not going to try to figure it out.

If anyone knows anything, let me know, either via PM, AIM, or however you can get in touch with me.

EDIT: Let me add that I'm willing to pay for someone to do this, and a few other things concerning it. If you're interested, let me know. I'll be contacting the stepmania people about this.

It's out of the realm of possibility *lock*

Seriously though, does the PSP run on a *nix platform and allow you to execute binaries from removable media? Is a 333 mHz processor with 32mb of RAM enough to run Stepmania? Do you have any idea how much recoding would be required if the answer to these questions is no?

The PSP Developement Studio (Codewarrior) got leaked (on torrent ) but it's kind of useless without the SDK (which you're going to have a hard time finding). It's a start, though.

That helps a whole lot. I dont think the PSP is powerful enough personally.

Agreed. You'd be much better off starting from scratch. I personally have a lot of qualms with StepMania, after trying to compile the code (which is just friggin' HUGE). It's designed so it ONLY works with OpenGL and ALSA (or Windows audio) through SDL, and it's pretty hard-coded to be little endian audio, as I recall. Pretty much makes porting it anywhere hell. Heck, I couldn't compile it on my Mac with all dependencies for Linux. Maybe the proper question is can you run legit DDR mixes on the PSP?

It's already out! just search for homebrew games for the psp, and you will find it. but you need a downgraded BIOS. I have it running on my psp, and it runs a little sluggish on the freeze arrows for some reason, so...yeah...
