Question Question for Admins - Mashups and Collabs

Ok, like the title states this is mostly a question for the admins, but I guess it really doesn't matter who answers it as long as this knowledge leads to me being out of trouble and beyond question in the matter.

I have several... pretty intense simfile ideas coming up rather soon and what I need to know is what I should do about simfile mashups and collaborations. Now what I mean by this is that I know that you are only supposed to submit your own work, but soon I plan on releasing Fort Minor - Remember the Name as a collaboration between myself and two more stepfile creators (including one not yet on this site, RFHazard) where portions of the song are being charted by the other two. Should we create a screenname for our group or is it cool if I just give credit?

Also, mashups... koenn and I have agreed that we are going to do a mashup of his Nine Inch Nails simfile "Wish" and my X-Japan simfile "Scars"... once again, this question is basically the same thing as the one before... where is it appropriate to place these simfiles?

What I want to do is place them on my screenname and give them credit as the origin of the idea for these simfiles came from me. Please let me know if this is acceptable ASAP.

P.S. I apologize if there is a sticky somewhere on this site that has something to do with this question, but I didn't see one.

Um... as long as you give one another credit and the others don't bicker at me then I could care less really

Awesome....

Default Awesome....

Good to hear, the three of us know each other irl, so we've already all agreed on it.

The reason I asked though is because the site states pretty clearly that you are only to submit your own stuffs. But yeah, thx much, I'll get right on it

Well technically any submitted simfile may use steps from another author. Also plenty of simfiles have had their offset and BPM figured out by somebody else. And there are simfiles that have the background and/or banner from another person. Bemanistyle can't govern how much of the simfile is made by you, but Bemanistyle does ask that you contribute something worthwile to the database that hasn't been submitted before.

Until we find out and smite them for doing it that part is very against the rules, everything else would be borderline impossible to stop (especially being the hundreds of max's that we have e_e; but I am intrigued about how this could turn out so send me a PM once you get it done so I can check it out (sadly, you can't post a link for it because it'd be sim advertisements)

Clarification...

Default Clarification...

Ok yeah, see the Mashup that koenn and I have planned for "Scars" and "Wish" is to actually combine the simfiles in a creative way. It'll be using the EXACT same step patterns from both simfiles (which sounds kind of boring at first) but it's going to jump from one song to the other at certain parts (quite a few of them)... which is basically meant for a teamwork tribute along with some extreme stepfile chaos.

But yeah, I'll let you know about the simfile once it's done, and I'll post that it's complete RIGHT HERE, in this thread (no link).

OH AND DON'T FORGET TO DOWNLOAD MY OTHER SIMFILES!! <ADVERT> j/k... I couldn't care less right now, lol.

You can only upload someone else's work if you have their express permission to do so, and with a collab the other artists are obviously ok with that, so there's no problem.
