Default REALLY bad problem with my TV

So, my younger cousin and their parents were visiting at my apartment, and the younger boy had some sort of a neon tube light or something, that he broke causing shards to hit my TV or something, according to him.

As you can see there is a ton of lines all over the TV and 3 crack/dent looking things on the right.

Here is a couple closeups with the "cracks" on them

also if it helps the TV still produces a picture, but it has the same pattern over the picture and the TV is a 42 Inch Sharp Aquos

Now before I do something like strangle him, can you guys tell me anything that could help me get this back to normal, or am I just screwed and forced to replace/send in the TV.

Just asking because this was a purchase that cost me a lot of money, and fixing it is going to take a lot more, and I'm not the richest person on earth.

Damn, I guess it's toast. I can't even send the TV in until Spring because its already winter up here and the TV would just be screwed by then.

There is absolutely no way to fix that. Make the family buy you a new one.

Yeah, I've had them agree to pay for, or at the very least help me pay for a new one.

Guess I'll have to go back to my 19 year old TV i use for my PS2

Oh man, I'm really sorry for you. I'm glad the family has agreed to help you pay to replace it.

My TV (not nearly as nice as yours) has a built in DVD player and my dad insisted we take it on a trip in case we wanted to watch DVDs there. Well somehow in the car something got unaligned in the player and whenever you play DVDs, it makes a nice grinding noise. You can still play things, it's just really hard to hear them. I still haven't replaced it.

Anyway, sorry for the pointless post, and good luck getting a new TV.

Yeah, the LCD panel has been damaged beyond repair (I mean, just look at those cracks...). The only way to repair the TV would be to have the LCD screen replaced, but seeing how the bulk of the cost of a TV like that is the LCD screen anyway, it's probably best to buy another TV. Real shame though..........

...but uhh... why did the family even allow the kid to handle a neon light tube in the first place anyway?

In fact, it is more expensive to replace a cracked LCD screen than it is to buy a new TV in most cases.

It was one of those wand looking things that you can use sort of like a flashlight. I guess they had it in the car incase of some sort of emergency or something, but the kid was playing with it like a friggin' lightsaber. >.<;;

Damn, thier kid is okay but destructive as hell. Mostly why I just keep in touch with my immediate family most of the time, I can at least trust them better

Oh, like the ones that usually have metal cages around them and are used for working under cars and stuff? At least he didn't hit it with one of those actual neon lightsabers.

That sort of reminds me of my old Gameboy pocket too. I had in a pocket of my backpack that has like a bungee cord thing on the outside and this girl was sitting across the aisle on the school bus snapping the cord. When I took my gameboy out, the outer covering screen had fallen off and the inner one was totally cracked and all the liquid stuff was puddled up around the crack. It sucked pretty bad and I wanted to wring that girl's neck. I ended up getting a Gameboy color to replace it. XD

Warranty does not cover this?

Sell the child into slavery to cover costs of repair. That'll teach him. Not to mention remove the source of the problem.

Alright, we know there's nothing you can do to fix the TV. Sorry, but you're basically fucked, dude.

On that note, thread is over.
