Ah yes, I remember him saying that. I believe in the same post he was also talking about modifying the scripts to remove the need for reverse videos by having the script tell stepmania to reverse the video. I think he also mentioned the video pause option to remove the need for a lot of the pngs, although I don't think you can completely remove the dependance on pngs.

Well I'm pretty sure my video site would be seperate from yours Beware, I don't really agree w/ how you've been doing some of the video things, movies in the song folders, seperating from the Nova series, etc.

Back when the videos first started I timed a few moview before the scripters jumped in and did them much faster then I could.

Well we'll see what S2U thinks when I talk to him again, but the last stuff I got from him were music vids that were segmented. So I'm not sure what he's planning to do. I also know he's been working on Str!ke/Ex2 videos.

That was added in SM 3.9 if I recall. What that does is I can set the rate of the movies to 0% and that causes the movie to freeze where it's at. However, this only works if the movie is designed to freeze at a certain point while it is playing. This method doesn't work if it's a sequence of stills like in 321 Stars and Tsugaru, so we still need pngs for that.

By the way, I wanted to ask a question about the video names.

Well, I know that [name][number]R.avi is the same as [name][number].avi in reverse.

But what about the [name][number]A.avi and [name][number]B.avi? Does the A or B stand for anything?

Having an 'A' means the video starts later then the normal version. For instance, cube2a.avi has about the first three seconds removed, so when you see it, it's later in the video than the original version. I suspect b having a 'B' is similar, except there would be a different amount removed than from the 'A' version.

I don't think it's an abbreviation for anything, but I could be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time.... Just the third time.

as i see it, A and B, and so on mean: variation/edit of a video. normally it means "cut out a fragment", but i have made a cube7A, which was a sped up cube7 (beyond the speed one can reliably get with scripting)

Cube7A is the sped up version of Cube7. The reason we needed that is in the song, the movie is sped up to beyond Stepmania's limit of 200% speed rate. So to keep it arcade accurate, we needed a sped up version.

Well, a full version of ITGPC is out now. The tools that were made for the demos will extract most of the random movies but not all of them, for some reason. No doubt someone will make an updated tool.

somehow, while the pc demo and ps2 data files are the same format (i reverse engineered the format), the tool someone made tho extract the ps2 data files didnt work on the pc demo. the extractor i made works on both. ill make it available.
