SM Online

I was thinking about trying SM Online, but first I have a couple questions about it.

1.Can you use 3.9 with it, or do you have to get 4.0?, and
2.Are there any specific song packs that you need to play it?

Any help would be much appreciated.

You have to get 4.0.

you can use your own songs on 4.0. You also might need to get or install different themes if you don't like the default theme.
