Default Stepmania freezing while playing Vid

hi, I need some help

I just figured out how to add movie files into stepmania for the background. Before it was a black screen, and now the video acts like it is going to play-and then it freezes. The whole game freezes-aarows and all, you can't even ctl alt delete out of the program, and then after a minute or so things run again

The video file size is 3,000 kb or so, is an avi, and I do not have any programs running to my knowledge that would cause the lag like this. I have stepmania 3.9 installed, and all other videos I have downloaded and play fine-just not the one *I* am making

First we need your PC specs. It should meet stepmania's requirements, else, you need a hardware makeover

also, specify the codec of the AVI file

Stepmania works best with videos encoded with DivX compression.
The recommended size for videos are 320 x 240.
Also, disable other running applications.

I see that your running nVIDIA. In the nVIDIA control panel, disable antialiasing and the other enhancements. always choose "Application Controlled"

I have the same card (except it has 128 MB VRAM) and it runs smoothly when it is in default settings.

It tends to slow down and go as low as 5 FPS when I turn on and force antialiasing and anisotropic filtering.

It is recommended to put them on default ^^
