Alright, I need to know if anybody can tell me how to control the tempo when making songs. I mean, I can expand x2, but that's only useful sometimes. I mean like, what if I need it to be expanded x1.5? Is there anything in the .SM file I need to edit or something? I should probably know, but I hate learning from myself. I need to be taught.

I'm pretty sure x1.5 is one of the options for expanding.

in SM's edit mode, pressing F1 will give you the list of key commands that you can use in edit mode.

Escape>Player Options>1.5x Speed

There's your 1.5x Expand. Same works for any speed mod you have scripted into StepMania, though putting on a CMod will disable editing the stepchart legitly (expands to the point of BS).

Ctrl+Down to expand
Ctrl+Up to return

If you want to expand your steps by doubling the BPM, Highlight and press Enter, then EXPAND (n)X, where n is the multiplier. Press Left/right to select the multiplier. (Not recommended if you want to do a quality simfile.)

Readmes and the F1 Key are your best friends.
