Tip for light to standard players - involves NoteSkins
After spending a lot of time on "Seasons of Love" last night and not doing as well as I'd hoped, by chance I found a great helper. I just installed the "Metal" NoteSkin and AA'd "Seasons of Love" in one try. This NoteSkin (and probably some others) have *one color* for quarter notes, one color for 8th notes, and so forth. It makes reading the rhythms so much easier.
Stepmania does come with a Notes noteskin that represents the differnt notes in colours.

The Stepmania default changes colors in its own way, not by note style. I guess you're saying you can choose another one of Stepmania's built-in NoteSkin. You don't mention which one...
Anyway, I found your follow-up to be undeservedly condescending.

"Note" is the actual name of the Noteskin. It makes 4th's red, 8th's blue, 12th's purple, 16th's yellow, 24th's pink, 32nd's orange, 48th's green, and 64th's a light blue color.
