What are rolls?

I was just playing SM and I noticed rolls on the left side when selecting a song, once again. I have been meaning to ask for a while what they are and I finally got to it. So, what are they?

They look like spikey freeze arrows (if you have the ITG noteskins) or purple (?) freeze arrows with DDR skins. They have to be hit at least once every 0.3 seconds. Judged the same as Holds. So basically, a freeze with continuous steps instead of holding your feet in the same place.

Hm, I have seen a few purple freezes on SM, but it didn't look like it was displaying correctly. But thank you regardless.

Rolls only work with SM CVS, so make sure you have the latest version so they work.
