Marketplace Rating: 0 | The world is a crazy place As always, I watch the news at 5, 6 and occasionally 10, rarely 11. So usually, there's a crazy story or two, but this lineup is just rediculous.
A college student murders his two lifelong bestfriends, then commits suicide.
A man who worked at Indian Point murders his family, then commits suicide.
A man walks around Central Park, flashing children.
This is all within the first three minutes of the news. Generally they save the best for first so they get viewers up front, but I didn't hear all of the stories.
"So what's the point, Mexicans?" You might ask.
I'm curious as to your views on the world, as day to day life goes. Is the world a beautiful place with some problems that can be fixed? Or is it a charred remnant, a broken dream that once was pure?
Personally, my view on the world is that it's a cesspool with endless masses of fucked up people and fucked up events, and I think it's been doomed from the start.
You?

I think people are born inherently bad/evil. As you grow and progress and stuff, you learn/are pressured from others, society, media, etc, and become a better person, but depending on your upbringing and how you were raised and all that will determine how bad of a person you end up being in the long run. I base this mainly on the fact that no matter how good/holy/righteous/whatever a person is, they all have an evil little asshole inside them just waiting to be selfish and do whatever they want as long as it benefits themselves.

No one would watch! Or read! Honestly, people are compelled to hear bad news WHEN IT HAPPENS TO SOMEONE ELSE due to it making us feel better about our own lives. It makes people say "Oh my god what has this world come too" Or "Wow I'm glad it wasn't me."
As good as the journalist sector is, they do it for the money/ratings and NOT the truth.

If you want to discuss political slandering or crazy astronauts that's a different matter.

He essentially says the same thing, that no people ever act out of their own goodness of their hearts; rather, everything is solely determined by what the person wants, and anything else in the world doesn't matter so long as he gets his way. It's not that this idea is wrong, that's not my field to judge, but I'm just saying I understand where you're coming from.
Now, personally, I love the world. I don't believe that everybody does what is right for the sake of goodness, but I don't believe that everybody is self-indulgent. I believe that people just do what is natural, and that every idea, philosophy, habit, or thought in a person's mind is dependant on how the person experiences life. Lots of people don't do what they think is right, and for good cause; lots of times there's simply no option to do what is best. But there is always a reason for why people do the things they do, and it's not necessarily human nature to think one way or the other. The only thing that human nature is dependant on is the drive to live: every other animal has this instinct, and everybody follows it in a different way.
Also, tl;dr

Marketplace Rating: 0 | You just realized the world a crazy place? I realized that when I was 10. I've watched the news since I was 8, and honestly everytime I hear about a mass murder, a devistating natural disaster, a 200 hundread car pile up, or a someone who has raped 100's of women I just go "Whatever, who cares? Happens everyday, what's the big deal?" I've stopped watching the news nowadays, cause honestly it bores me out of my mind.
You ever notice how they NEVER mention anything good in the news?

and some large automatic called the peacekeeper.
But on humanity and stuff:
I never really thought about it too hard. What happens is what happens. Im sure this kind of bad shit has gone on since the beginning of humantiy, except for that now it seems more common because it actually is happening more often (with more people in existance and all)

There has always been a dark side to existence and all that jazz but it seems as time progressed, it became less intimate. We've become more impervious to it and less emotional towards a lot of it. A lot of that is actually thanks to the internet, movies, etc. Not that i'm trying to point a finger or anything. I'm just saying thanks to shit like rotten, 4chan and the like, I can see a picture of a dead body or something and not really be phased anymore. I know a lot of people that would get nightmares from it.
I know this isn't a exactly a fair comparison to all the shit in the world and all but this morning I saw a skinned and gutted bunny rabbit on my school campus. Like it wasn't just dead, someone pulled out all the organs. I knew it was disgusting yet I didn't respond.
People are sick, we've just learned to block a lot of it out.

As for people being evil. Last night was pretty fucking bad on our part, tee hee~

Marketplace Rating: 0 | The world is crazy. People kill each other because they scuff each other's shoes on accident. People are politically correct for fear of offending others. Today's hottest music consists almost entirely of two-cent generic beats with promiscuous lyrics. The music-based video game industry is made of unoriginality and litigation. Kids are actually citing Google in informative speeches. The American legal system can be used to collect recompense for petty mistakes on their part. Everyone knows pseudo-science all of a sudden and passes it off as actual knowledge just to look smart. Simon Cowell still doesn't have a medal for his valor in putting people in their place yet. Firefox 2.0 disabled the keyboard shortcuts for posting in forums. Two-thirds of the population still believe in horoscopes. The Late Show With David Letterman is still on the air. Britney Spears is still in the mainstream. Androgynous CG art is becoming a trend. House is delayed a week or three after each episode. SNK hasn't made a non-sequel in years. White chocolate products are rapidly dropping in availability. Denis Leary no longer does stand-up comedy. 70% of students in America think they can sing and 100% of them are not getting the kicks in the throat they keep begging for. Anna Nicole Smith is still getting the world's attention even after death, rivaling Terry Schiavo in that record. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya still has the worst fanbase in history. And I still have yet to clear chapter 3 in Disgaea.
Welcome to the 21st century.

If you don't like evil, don't watch the fucking news.
The world is evil, there is so much evil in this world, you wouldd put a bullet in your head if you knew about it.
But look, there's a reason good people flock together. It's an attraction.
Also, the news is constantly biased, feeding us uninformed and far dated information.
Stop watching the news already and think for your fucking selves.
Really, for your own good here.
EDIT: So look, I hate the news because it DOESN'T give me 'feel good' stories. When I here about killing after killing, I turn it off, I don't even bother trying too watch it anymore. Just think about the 1337s|*34|< stories **shudder** I vomited a little during those.
If you get off on other people's misery, go ahead and watch the doomsday report. Me, I go by the strict policy that 'ignorance is bliss'.
I think I'll go play more beatmania and eat some cherries and stop obsessing about how the world is going to end.
DOUBLE EDIT: I love my life. I don't concern myself with trivial news reports. today I snuck onto a University and took lots of pictures with my friend for my photo class. It was a TON of fun, and it was totally nostalgic. Soon I'm going to go to the Matsuri Festival here in AZ and spend time living up the annual Festival of Japan. I think life is only as good as you make it. It can be sweet if you want to or as dark as you think it is.

They really were expected to report exactly what happens, sometimes there were exciting stories and other times not much going on at all. People expected it to be that way and it was scandolous for a news manager to sensationalize the news. But now we have an entire generation growing up after Jan 1st 1980. People haven't seen how not everything in life was expected to make a maximum profit. It's just one of the many ways the 21st century makes you miserable without any fair way of realizing how.
