Prelude Hyper.
*sad*
(I'm sure I'd like the note chart a lot more if I could play the crazy parts at least SOMEWHAT non-retardedly.
Also 24 second pause.)

Marketplace Rating: 1 | I don't think I'd dislike Brass Rock as much if I wasn't expecting the chart to be different than it is. I dunno, though, I kind of like it with it's assy timing, as it would give me more incentive to play it, as a new score is always manageable. Dunno, maybe I just like shitty charts, and am blind to it? lol
As for Gamelan, there's 2 individual rhythms going on; an 8th note beat moving up and down, while the 16ths go in a repetitive pattern of 3 non-adjacent notes for each measure. It's very uncomfortable, but it makes sense. I have no trouble with it on mirror, unfortunately, as the rest of the song is a lot harder on mirror. Figures? The song honestly plays like a 36, and the middle could constitute for a 41, averaging to a rough 38.5 (lol?).

Gamelan works pretty well as a 38 for me, since it's fairly easy to recover after the middle stuff.

It would break the barriers of having 'harder' 41's such as Lamento, and 'easier' 42's like Nightmare Carousel, or even differentiating the gaps between a 43 like Classic 9, or a 43 like Cowboy and Classic 8.
But again, I'm probably alone on this, seeing as there's already people bitching about GF&dm's rating system -- no need to add MORE bitching to the pop'n community, right?

Each of these areas has huuuge ranges in difficulty. Screen, Cowboy and Classic 8 are tough, but not equal. I still think all 43s are gimmick songs though, so it's kind of hard to compare "chordscales" to "clusterfuck" to "jackhammer". Even just adding 44 and doing a fair bit of swapping among the highest 4 rankings would work fine. | |

Marketplace Rating: 1 | Cowboy and Classic 8 would be upped to 44's, while the rest would be left for 43's. And while I wholeheartedly agree that Classic 8 is a gimmick chart, I wouldn't say the same for Cowboy.
And personally, I wish they WOULD expand the difficulty to 44. Not so that Cowboy and Classic 8 could get bumped, but so that a Cowboy 2 or Cowboy long could come around and set a new standard in difficulty. If IIDX can have shit like quasar 14[A] that only 3 players in Japan can clear, I don't see why pop'n can't.
Lv.44 songs for the win.
I dunno, I liked charts back in the pop'n 7/8 era with Classic 7/Classic 8/Screen style charts where the difficulty consisted of random unparalleled double scales with random jackhammers and triples thrown in at a high BPM to add for difficulty. If Classic 8's 2nd half of the song was as menacing as the first, we'd have the hardest song in pop'n history, jackhammers completely aside.
No one will agree with me, of course. Hopefully Konami will one day, though.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | I frankly don't see how Classic 9 could be considered a 43. The only kinda difficult part are the beginning scales, but those are still more of a kinda high 42. The only real trouble with the song is reading it, since HS2 sucks for the end and HS3 sucks for the beginning, and even if you can't make the beginning you can still make it just fine to the end. I estimate that HS2.5 will make the song a lot more passable to a lot more people.

Marketplace Rating: 1 | HS3 on pop'n 9 is absolutely perfect, and is probably more or less the equivalent of HS2.5 on Adventure. I think the 43 factor of Classic 9 is the ending, which determines the clear or not. I've countless times got to the ending with an oscar winning score on it only to fuck up the ending horribly because of the shitty low bpm and horrible double rhythms going on. I agree that it should be a 42, but if it were, so should moushima and screen.
