ALI PROJECT transcends the confines of music to create something new: dramatic Japanese literature set to melody. An amalgamation of Dark Rock and essential Gothic, they combine Lolita mystery with Balladeer integrity. Colorful and cute, ALI PROJECT refuse to conform to expectation, implementing touches of Classic Pop, old-school Japanese Rock and Avant-Garde soundscapes to cover a variety of genres for their wide audience. Displaying high technical proficiency and a penchant for skillfully layered arrangements, they seemingly breathe life into a world of their own design.

They debuted on the Toshiba EMI label with the release of Koiseyo Otome in July 1992. They released 3 albums and 4 singles under contract, but following the release of Noblerot in 1998 established their own ZAZOU Records label in Japan. Their music has since become part of a full media blitz with work showcased in commercials, film soundtracks, and anime theme songs. Among them are the following:
Ankoku Tengoku from the anime Kamichama Karin; Poeny Pink from the anime Clamp Campus Detectives; Kinjirareta Asobi from the anime Rosen Maden; Gesshoku Grand Guignol from the anime Avenger; Copellia no Hitsugi from the anime Noir; Yuukyou Seishunka from the anime Code Geass; Boukoku Kakusei Catharsis, Yogore Naki Akui, God Diva & In The World from the anime .hack//Roots; and many more.

Their success in Japan has led to invitations to play all over the world as their fan base continues to expand, but due to native popularity and an intensely busy schedule, they have declined to play outside their homeland until now. Sakura-Con will boast the overseas debut of ALI PROJECT, featuring their first appearance, performance and interview ever held outside of Japan. I'm jealous of ANYONE who went to this. I wanted to go so badly... To bad I don't live there... Hopefully they perform again in the US. Hopefully at my anime convention. Hehehe. If they perform, I'm wearing my Souseiseki costume again. Need... Ali Project...

I was a little peeved in missing out on their autograph session. I went to it when it was suppoesd to happen, but they were running late, so I came back an hour later and the same staff member who told me to come back later was like "sorry, your too late." I was like WTF, just let me in! He had to adhear to their wishes though of limiting the autographes to a raffle system. Poo!
