Default Arcade Pop'n buttons

The title of this thread might be a little misleading, but I have a question for those that have been to Japan a few times. My machine I believe was upgraded from a Pop'n 1, so I think the buttons are pretty old. They feel a bit stiff, but I think its mainly because they are different and not because of wear. However, the feel of DA's and Ransai's are quite different. I find it easier to do scales on these controllers. When I went to Japan last year, I found that each machine differed slightly. Some machines had buttons like a Ransai/DA, some were like my machine, and some were different.

I guess the main question I'm asking is, what is the most common? If you were to buy a new cab, would the buttons be different from say a Pop'n 1 cabinet? I would like to swap the buttons if possible with something more "clicky" but at the same time I don't want to go back to Japan and find that the majority of the machines I play on are using stiffer buttons and I can't play again.
