Default Best ASC?

Hi guys, I'm new to the whole Pop'n scene but it looks like a lot of fun and I want to get into it.
Eventually I'm going to get one of these ASCs, but there are so many different kinds.

Ransai
Konami
DjDao
Desktop Arcade

I can import a Konami one from Yahoo Japan Auctions but it'll end up costing me like 450. The DjDao is really nice looking and is only 190 plus 100 shipping....
The wait list for Ransai pretty much makes that out of the question.

So what is the best Pop'n ASC?

I know this is probably a silly question but I really don't know

If you're looking for a controller that is closest to the arcade experience, absolutely go with Dao. However, there isn't necessarily a "best controller" as it's really a matter of preference.

Also, after the current batch, Ransai will no longer be making controllers.

well, are the dao controllers reliable and well built? more so than konami? I don't want to drop this much money on a controller and it not work

The Dao Pop'n ASC is great. Any problems that come up can usually be solved very easily.

Some people like the Konami ASC, but general consensus is that it feels/sounds terrible and that it's hard to fix.

plus the KASC more expensive anyway. the one thing I really like about the dao is the lights, which i think is cool. is ordering with him fairly easy? i mean he has an order form and everything so it doesn't seem too hard.

How is DjDao compared to Desktop Arcade in terms of durability? Also it seems like DASC can take a long time to make/get to you, true?

You could always check here.

The Dao is a little over $300 shipped if you live in the US.

I would guess all of these are about as reliable. I've only heard problems about the official ASC which can wear down with time. With those 2, you probably aren't going to break anything except a microswitch, which is replaceable. With the DAO, be sure to get an extra set if possble, because they can be a pain to find around the US. (unless you have some arcade games with Japanese controls already)

wait time with DA? yes for me. It took 3 or 4 months, and I had no idea when I would see it, but it did finally arrive.

Nothing beats a dj dao controller

This applies to everything honestly

If you do get a dj dao, I highly recommend you buy the following:

1) A soldering iron (cost like 10 bucks at Radio Shack)
2) An extra PCB board from dj dao (3 bucks at the most)

I have DJ Dao Pop'n and IIDX controllers, and couldn't be happier. Highly recommended.

Rather than further clutter up the DJ Dao topic, I thought I'd ask here:

Which microswitches do people generally prefer between Cherry and Omron? I remember hearing that Cherry switches are more sensitive, but I haven't read much else. I'm getting ready to get a DJ Dao Pop'n ASC and I don't really know the difference.

Thanks.
