Google "ps2 slimline tissue mod" and obtain a copy of Swap Magic and you're set. Alternatively, get Swap Magic and that tool that they sell along with it to mod slimlines (the Magic Tool, IIRC?).
Of course, there is also the option of modchipping your PS2, but that's probably the most expensive route.

Thanks, now all I gotta do is talk my mom into getting it for Christmas (she likes Jack and Oni-Be lulz).
Question. Will I still be able to play American games as well? DDRX is also on my list.

But if you get a magic keys mod, it's a pain to switch out games. You know how you can open the PS2 to switch games out when its still on? Since it covers the sensors, it will keep spinning if you open it while it's turned on.

@Vic Viper: The tissue mod is basically the cheapass mod for blocking out the sensor on the slimline PS2 that detects whenever the cover is open like what the Magic Tool's supposed to do. It effectively turns a slimline into the equivalent of a fliptopped fat PS2.
@Shollkee: Yes, you will still be able to play American games. (You need only use the Swap Magic disc for imported games.)

As for what the metal things are, if I'm not misreading your second post/mistaken, they're basically a cleaner way to do a slimline mod (as opposed to tissue modding it).

My mom has been looking for the lowest-priced Swap Magic, and repetitively asking me: "Hey, honey, which 5 Pop'n Music games did you want again? You said 15, right?"
Something tells me my dear old mom will be a frequent Pop'n 15 player.
I dunno if that's a good or a bad thing. | |
