I was wondering, if I used the Mini for about a year, how long would it take to switch to the ASC? Would it be impossible or really really simple?
UPDATE: I think I might just buy an ASC soon.
So here's the next question:
djDAO
DASC
or KASC?

I'd highly recommend trying to save up and search for a super cheap used controller, as the price won't be bad compared to getting a new mini. But if money really is a huge issue, I suppose mini's are moderately fun. You'll probably tire out before a year tho.

i go back and forth from playing on my mini2 at home to playing at the arcade .. i had no problem transferring. there are obvious adjustments that you will have to make when playing but most of it just boils down to muscle memory and common sense

Regardless though ASC is more fun anyway.

The updated version of the mini controller is excellent; don't hesitate to buy one.
A couple of key advantages make it worth having one on hand -
- It's relatively quiet, or can be played relatively quietly, though it's still pretty loud. ASCs tend to be loud when playing hard stuff.
- It's portable.

But a desktop arcade DASC.
Many people are selling theres in the trade forum for less than what they are actually worth. Good asc to start off with.
But I'm saving up for a Dao myself.
I really recommend a ransai though.

If I recall correctly, one is standard for Pop'n Animelo cabinets, the other is standard for a normal Pop'n cab; although I don't remember which is which.
EDIT: I definitely recommend a Ransai personally, I love mine. You'll have to get one used though since orders aren't being taken any more. I've heard good things about both DA and Dao too, so you really can't go wrong with whatever you get.

If you ever play on the arcade, you will know why, only the dao is able to properly replicate it.
The other ones just feel cheap.
