Important for Homemade controllers: After cutting through several third party controllers to revive my poor pop'n controller, these are some notes that I've made to ensure controllers will work with pop'n.
1.) Controllers with auto-fire switches will not work. The controller I had used for this had switches, that even in the off position will trigger some sort of hiccup in the PCB. This prevents the game from recognizing the controller as a Pop'n controller.
2.) Some controllers have the grounds BUILT INTO THE CONTROLLER ITSELF. These will drive you wild, but still workable. Just make sure if you decide to trim away rumble packs and analog sticks that you avoid trimming the wire that leads to the ground
3.) The cheapest controller the store has might not be the best one. Some really, really cheap controllers have a fun thing with the D-Pad that prevents two directional buttons from being pressed at the same time. This will prevent the controller from registering as a pop'n controller.
Long story short I've spent too much money on these controllers and I could have just bought a ransai. ;_; |
