Ok. I'm convinced. I'm about to buy a minicon 2 and one of the pop'n games for ps2. It looks like a ton of fun and I'm going to save for a djdao asc.

I can get either 14 fever or 13 carnival, which should I pick?
they're the same price so it doesn't matter, I just can only afford one right now, otherwise I'd get both.

Personally I prefer Fever, but I've been playing for a little bit. Carnival though would probably be better for you for now. I'd say it has more easier songs to get started with than 14 does.

I personally like Fever, especially if I were starting out because it's got easier patterns than Carnival. Most people here seem to not like Fever because of all the ee'mall songs which have bizarre charts compared to regular songs. For a new person, I can't see that being anything but good because it'd get you used to all sorts of different patterns.

In all actuality though, I say go 11 because it's the best. :B

Actually, I think the ee'mall charts are FANTASTIC and the regular pop'n 14 songs/charts are almost all terrible. Carnival covers all the ground that pop'n has to offer, while you'll find nary a song with difficult timing or odd chartage in FEVER. FEVER also has a total of FOUR revivals, ALL of which are on previous PS2 releases (2 from pop'n 7, one from Best Hits, one from pop'n 8). Carnival has Visual from pop'n 2, among a lot of songs from earlier games like 7 that didn't have a good interface or high speed mods.

Get Carnival.

Fever was better than carnival IMO , songs just seemed more upbeat.

of course you should probably go for Pop N Music 9 instead :3

also Fever has Fever robo and ubertreffen iirc?

the first game i ever played was carnival and the songlist made me orgasm. fever didn't impress me. i just played high school love and let's go out!! all the time because the rest of the songs were not impressive to me.

I think Pop'n overall just has an inordinate proportion of worthless tracks unfortunately. You'd probably have to axe four out of every five songs to approach any kind of consistency in quality.

Yet it still maintains a better proportion than IIDX imho.
