Marketplace Rating: 0 | Konami ASC no good?? I've been doing some research on ASCs, but the only complaint on the Konami controller is it's too noisy. Besides the noise (and the 'ass rape shipping'), are there any other reasons why people don't recommend it?

Marketplace Rating: 5 | It uses much harder to replace/repair microswitches, it's inhumanly loud, less responsive than a Ransai or DA, and in general just isn't worth the money. It might be worth it if you lived in Japan and didn't have to pay the shipping and importer fees (which virtually double the cost of the controller), but for an American or at least not Japanese CS player you're FAR better off buying a Ransai or DA.

Marketplace Rating: 5 | Well at least the IIDX controllers are passable and well made. It's just they didn't hold that same level of ridiculous quality for the Pop'n cons.

Marketplace Rating: 3 | I'm guessing this explains why I never see anyone making topics such as "WTB: Konami Pop'n ASC" but I see tons of posts on wanting Ransai/DA controllers?

Marketplace Rating: 0 | eh, I love my Konami ASC that I have. I haven't had any problems (other than a hit and miss microswitch but that comes with 2 years of use) and i'm probably in the Minority but I love how loud the KASC is. The buttons are also a lot better.

Marketplace Rating: 5 | I also have the Konami ASC. Absolutely perfect. I like it more than the Ransais I've played on. I have no idea what anyone's talking about when they say the other controllers are more responsive. My ASC is also one of the first ASC's made and I've yet to encounter even a slight problem with any of the buttons, despite MAJOR smashing of the thing over the many years.

The end. | Actually, I am going to agree with Dewgy here; almost every time I've talked Pop'n with you, you have brought up how terrible your ASC is. What's up with the inconsistency?

Marketplace Rating: 0 | Now I'm not sure if I want a Ransai or the Konami ASC. I know what I want on my Ransai; that'll be $320 total. I want to order Pop'n 8 now while it's on sale. The Konami ASC is out of stock though. So should I wait for that, or get the Ransai now?

What's up with the inconsistency? | It's not that my ASC is terrible, but moreso that my controller suffers from the same effects that all KoamiStyle ASC's do: short-lasting microswitches, loose buttons, extremely loud echo noises, and an assortment of excess poors. I have never complained about the loud noises or loose buttons; however, I'm positive that the latter is the cause of the excess poors. I have also been experiencing recently the effects of said short-lasting microswitches, which in conjunction with the excess bads is more than enough reason for me to complain about my controller.
This does not negate my previous post by saying that my controller works fine for me -- it does. I can still manage 100K's with minimal excess -- usually none -- in addition to ranking scores and clears. I would not be as bold as to say that I'd prefer a Ransai or DASC, because in honesty, I don't. I've played on both, and I personally prefer the feel of the KonamiStyle ASC, despite it being less arcade-acurate than its American competitors. Unfortunately, this unique feel has its penalties, that of which I more than often complain about, but again, does not negate the fact that I stand firm with my previous statement, "I have a KoanmiStyle ASC, and umm...it works fine for me."
Not to say that I don't wish that there was something better...perhaps a way of swapping out the microswitches and holding the buttons tighter in place to prevent excess bads. I said the controller works fine for me...never said it was perfect. And any complaint I've ever had with my controller is moreso from the frustration caused by said problems interfering with a certain goal in mind at the time. That aside, the controller does indeed work fine.
I'm ranting.
The end.

Marketplace Rating: 5 | Man, you must've gotten a crappy one.
Mine's something like 4 years old (it's one of the first released) and I've yet to get a single excess bad on it, and that's with excessive Trauma Punk EX/tons and tons of 41's-43's/my smashing on it 9273492834 times during PNM11/12 and soon to be 13.
Nor do I notice loose buttons. They aren't completely snug with the rest of it but it isn't like they're zomg going to fall out or something. They fit in there and they aren't coming out.
