Default Noob Question Re: Popn' Music Controller Bundle

I found a shop online that carrys Popn' Music 10 Controller bundle. My question is:

1. Is the Popn' Music bundle controller the same style that was released for the Dreamcast?

2. If so, are there any other cheap-ish controllers that are better?

Uh-huh~

Mini controllers are the cheapest and work well enough. I use one myself and I'm fine. AC controllers are more expensive but if you want the TRUE ARCADE EXPERIENCE LOL then feel free to dish up the extra cash. People here love their AC's, they can tell you all about them.

Same style, different color.

The next cheapest price you will pay after a mini is around $200 for a KASC, Ransai, or DA. I prefer the KASC to the latter. If you can afford it, the best* controller on the market are the ones made by DJ Dao. I say best because until you get up into the higher levels, you can't distinguish the differences in the switches, etc. It's also arcade accurate to the older machines, and dao has a great service history.

Buttons are a bit different then the ones on Dreamcast. On Dreamcast they were flat, while on PS2 they are more round - more coming up. The one for PS2 is easier to use I think - the buttons are not too sensitive. On Dreamcast you just had to touch them slightly to register, on PS2 the registration level feels just fine - you have to press/hit the button slightly.

I don't think there are other non-Konami controllers that are better and cheaper. But I think you'll be happy with your Konami controller for PS2, since it was improved from its earlier Dreamcast edition .

Um I'm pretty damn sure it's arcade accurate to all machines except for the e-amuse keypad obviously.

Animelo style cabs look different and have slightly different spacing, though.

maaya: you answered one of my unasked questions! My main problem with the DC controller is that all it takes is the slightest tap to trigger a button. Which can be kind of hard for me, being new to the series. Thanks alot for all your help guys!

I'm glad that my answer was useful to you Sancho. I'm sure you will like the PS2 popn' music 10 game a lot. It will be so much easier to play than the Dreamcast versions, and thus so much more fun . The popn' music 10 was also my first popn' music game to get for the PS2 console. Have a nice play!
