Official DJ Dao Pop'n ASC Thread (Now Available!)

Im starting to get concerned too Mr Dao. Any chance of letting us know the status of our orders ? Made the transfer on the 12th Jan, and dying to play Ive never had any pop n music controller so have only played using a duel shock controller

Well, judging by this update on DJ Dao's website, I think the controllers have probably been shipped. It would be nice to hear him give us confirmation personally, but I guess he's busy or something. Maybe he'd respond to email faster than he would forum posts.

I got my controller today, and it's pretty nice. It seems that during shipping, one of the buttons came off, but it only took me a minute to figure out how to put it back on (no disassembly required), and after that it worked great. Buttons seem to respond well, lights work fine, and it looks very nice too. It's also QUIETER than any other ASC I've played. It's still fairly loud when you play harder songs on it, but in comparison to other ASCs, it's pretty quiet.

So I've just put an order in, but whats the deal with the breakages during shipping? Is the packaging not adequate? For those who have received their controllers, does it look like the packaging is enough to prevent problems?

That is little odds to break controllers
If so,you can claim for compensation for shipping company.
There is no breakages at our controllers when we send that.

Mine was packed great, with form-fitting foam inserts on top and bottom. No damage to speak of.

I got mine too :P The centre on the front side (where the pop n music sticker) curves away from the body-but nothing an extra screw cant fix.
Apart from that Im very happy with the item cant recommend the product enough. Thank you DJ Dao!!

Do I need both the USB and the PS plug both in for it to work? I tried just the PS cable on its own (didnt want the lights on) but it wouldnt work?

I posted a run down on the DJ Dao IIDX PE in the IIDX thread, and most of that applies here. Packaging was awesome. Transaction was smooth and fast. From the time I sent payment, it took 7 days for the controller to arrive. Everything was perfect, apart from one button being loose, which took two seconds to pop back. Unfortunately I've never played Pop'n before because I've always felt the game deserved an ASC, and I've never had access to an arcade machine. But the controller feels superb. Its extremely solid, very sexy, and very responsive. So, I did a vid, but I got a new laptop recently and all my video stuff hasn't been installed, and once I got around to installing it, some of it didn't work on the new PC. After messing around for ages, I finally get a decent edit, upload it, and see that the brightness on the controller image is screwed. Ahh well, you can see the lights. I've played a lot of IIDX, but have only had Pop'n for a few days, so the video isnt anything amazing, just showing that the controller works fine, and allowing people to hear the super sexy clickiness.

Yes, I did receive it about a week ago. It's easily the greatest p,op'n music controller I have ever played on. Thank you so much, DJ Dao.

And for comparison, I have played every time of pop'n controller. Desktop Arcade, Ransai, custom built, mini 1, mini 2, KonamiStyle ASC (original and re-release), as well as my fair share of pop'n AC (Animelo 2 cabinet, various AC games (3, 6, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14)), and I can easily say, without any hesitation, that the DJ Dao ASC isn't only the closest match to an AC pop'n deck that you'll find, but I'd go as far as to say it's identical, or even better.

And that's my review. I've never gotten better scores.
