got a lightly used DAO in the marketplace.

it's perfect, except it feels like button 8 has no spring inside it, or something. when i press it, it doesn't come all the way back up like the other buttons do, and if i hold it down, it's possible to make it stick, but it comes back with a light touch

i tried removing the button to have a look inside, but the pronged black plastic clip in the back which holds the microswitch is bigger than the hole in the board, so the button can't come out, and the white ring-nut can't come off. is there some way to remove this clip, or am i approaching it totally wrong?

edit: got it fixed without even having to, but i'd still like to know how to safely remove the clip/light thing from the button so i can pop it all the way out, should i need to

From DJDAO's reply to my post on his forum it seemed like he meant the PS2-LPT converter would come with my ASC, there isn't anything special I need to click on?
Don't need to specify it in the order notes?
Quote:
It won't come with the PS2->LPT adaptor. It's a typo on the site. Same expectation happened to me; I ordered a controller and was surprised to not find one in the box. After e-mailed I found out they only came with the IIDX ASCs and I had to pay extra for one. If you want one, e-mail him beforehand; the cost of one shipped separately is something like $27 USD

A portion of DJDao's email reply to me:

"POP come with PSX port convert to Printer port ( LPT )
Not DVD any more."

1) So will it come with the converter? I am confused. And if it will not include the converter how much will 1 cost?

2) How about software? Is the converter plug and play?

3) Will a PS2 to USB converter work?

I tried a PS2 to USB converter on my Popn minicontroller and 1 key remains pressed down forever, though it worked perfectly on my ps2.

4) I am thinking of getting 2 cherry switches as spare parts, is it just right or should i get more or other parts?

Thank you.

I just received my DJDao ASC but i have to press down considerably harder than in the arcade and i really have to press down quite hard for the button to register, as opposed to when i lightly tap the buttons and they will be registered.

Anyone have the same problem? I cant play effectively like this and i have problems even with Lvl 24 Songs though i can play up to lvl 37s in the arcade.

I am really regretting my purchase at this point and is considering to sell off my controller.

Anyone knows how to make the buttons more sensitive? My ASC is using Cherry Microswitches.

I emailed DJDao and he said that time will make the buttons become softer.

he's right. an arcade with a brand new machine will also have stiffer buttons. play for a month or two and they'll loosen up.

Just wanted to check in with Iorek (or anyone) regarding the post you made in the Dao Pop'n ASC thread. I just got a Super Joybox 3 adapter in and it seems to work perfectly aside from the fact that it doesn't seem to register my 8 button (which I believe should be soldered to the analog Up on a PSX controller?). I don't see an option to remap the UDLR buttons and while it accepts input from the button in Directional Mode, the fact that the other three directions are held down prevents mapping it for PC use (because it automatically registers some sort of other input, presumably either Left Down or Right). I also tried plugging in a PSX controller and mapping Up with that and then swapping back to the Dao but it still doesn't seem to be registering the Up button in gameplay. Any ideas?

Sounds about right.

Some ways I'd speed up the process is while waiting for the game to load or something just mash on the buttons for a few seconds, and when you're watching a movie or something, just leave the controller on your lap pushing the buttons.

(Turn the volume of the movie WAAY up though, obviously)

Just wanted to update regarding the Super Joybox 3 that Iorek mentioned working with Dao ASCs. On one hand, yes, technically it works; it registers the button input. On the other, there is HORRIBLE FUCKING LAG. I'm hitting 1.5-2 seconds to get Greats and still only 85-90king things. It's also dropping notes occasionally; not registering when I hit buttons. This is coming from someone who has 100k'd 40s and 98k'd 42s. I would strongly advise against buying it.

Why don't use PSX drivers?

How much would it cost me to upgrade my controller to all sanwa buttons like the arcade?

I'm really starting to feel a huge difference.
