Marketplace Rating: 0 | Hello, quick question:
will Mr. Dao sell all the necessary pop'n parts seperately, in order to make my own ASC? His (admittedly plush looking) controllers come to £222.50, which is a little steep, so i'm leaning towards the home-brew option. Looking on his site, 9 fat-bastard buttons + microswitches = £100, so add onto that a couple o' pound stirling for a cheapo PS1 controller and some notes for some wood and i reckon it'll save me best part of a ton, which can go towards my FP7 (don't worry Mr. Dao, you'll get your share of my money).
so yeah, will he frown on this, or is it the norm?

Can someone tell me what the "Item Carriage" cost is in the My Cart page is? Is it the postage costs?

*sigh*
well, if no one wants to answer my last post, maybe someone can answer me this: how sturdy are the dao pop'n controllers? If i'm paying over £200 for one, i want to know it'll last many years. also, how easy to maintain etc.
any help greatly appreciated.
thanks. | |

Many people have told me daos are the best out there. I haven't gotten one yet but I trust these people by what they say. (zorahk, Spiritsnare, Joe P.)

thanks. | I'm sure DAO will sell the parts separately, as it is an option for ordering on the website already. You're still going to be murdered on the shipping cost though, it's expensive to ship anything from China (unless you're close to China lol).
I have a DAO PNM ASC, and I also say that it's a great controller. Looks good, very reliable, easy to maintain (uses quick disconnects for the buttons), etc. I've played a ton on mine with no issue other than some of the LED lights have gone out (but they're easy to replace as well). If you have the cash and are into PNM enough to justify the cost, then buy it.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | ok, another questions for you guys: i've decided to make my own ASC, but am a little unsure which microswitches to use. Does anyone have a model number of the optimal varient, or will any old micro.s work? (apologies for noob question, i'm new to this DIY thang).
...also, just as an fyi, looks like it's cheaper to buy all the buttons + switches from Dao than it is from arcadeshope.de - this is fucked up, seeing as i live in the UK :?

Any microswitch will work. I don't like the honeywell switches he uses now so get cherries or omrons.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | thanks for the advice, i'll go for the cherries + 9 phat buttons (all from dao)
I've got one more question actually (been reading a lot of how-to's): one guide i've got says that the pcb wires need to be soldered to the NO micro.s connector, whilst another guide says to solder these to the NC micro.s - can anyone confirm for me?

Marketplace Rating: 2 | I believe you want to use the NO (normally open) on the microswitch for your connection (pressing the button or switch will close the circuit and make the button press occur), but don't solder the wire to the switch, use quick disconnects (they are cleaner and easier for replacement when the switch goes bad, takes awhile but will happen). If you connect to the wrong one (NO or NC), it would just make it that the button would always be pressed.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | I'm having a little bit of an issue with my controller. A while ago, something on the circuit board shorted out, so it was obviously completely useless. I tried to order another one when it happened, but after several orders not getting confirmation for a while I stopped trying. This was a while ago, and I recently tried ordering it again. I got it in the mail today, and while it was the correct part, it looks to be an updated circuit board, and it does not use the same kind of plugs that the last one did. What should I do? I was thinking of trying to solder the wires directly, but I wouldnt even know where to begin, since there are multiple wires coming from each microswitch. Please help!

Marketplace Rating: 2 | Is it the solderless one? You need to be more descriptive or I can't help, but I used to have one of his ghetto ps1 boards and then swapped it for a new type, I can help you if you show a pic or something.
