Default Pop'n controller problem

Hi everyone,
I got hooked on pop'n last year when I lived in Japan for a few months, and finally got a hold of a controller. It is an official Konami one, transparent plastic cover, not an ASC.
It works just fine, except for one button; the right yellow acts as if it's stuck/constantly pressed, but it really isn't.
I have tried removing the button and rubber thingie below, and the button still acts as if it's pressed despite the contacts being clean and in "open air". The controller hasn't had much use, the contacts aren't worn at all.
I use a pc and a USB adapter with it, but I had no problems getting it working in general. It's only that one button that gives me trouble, raah!
In gamepad/joystick settings that button seems to be considered a directional "down" button, as an x/y axis, while all the other buttons are mapped as 1,2,3...10 and none of them act like an axis/directional button. This confuses me a little, why would just that one button be considered "directional", and is there any way to change that?

If I push the button, it gets "unpushed" until i release it, so it's really acting like a reverse button.. or something like that >_< It does the same thing in-game as well as in windows settings.
I have no idea if it might have been slightly shortcircuited or anything, I bought it used and as I don't own any PS/2 i haven't been able to test it there to see if it's a computer-specific problem or if it's in the controller.

I'm bursting to play more pop'n, so i really hope this can be fixed
My english might be a little weird, sorry about that; I'm just a crazy swede

Any suggestions or ideas are greatly appreciated!

It's supposed to be that way. You can recalibrate it with your adapter's settings, probably. But the PS2 game recognizes it as a Pop'n Music controller because that button is constantly held down.

Oh wow, I missed something as fundamental as that? I'm glad it wasn't worse than that, then there must be something relatively easy to do to fix it.
Thanks a lot for letting me know, I'm reading and googling until my eyes fall out tonight, hopefully finding a way to get around this
EDIT: Thanks to an idea Solefald gave me, I found a post here on the forums that was of some help. By calibrating the controller in the usb adapter user interface it isn't constantly pushed anymore. And when pushed in the calibration window, it moves the dot but doesn't get stuck, so the button press is registered there.
But in the game, it no longer registers, not even in the key settings menu. If I return it to default/decalibrate it, the game registers it as constantly pressed again...
Almost there X_X

You just have to mess with different calibrations, it doesn't usually work the first time for everyone. Try holding down the button different times in the calibration. Also, only assign the Pop'n buttons to the controller, not start or select. Assign those to a button the keyboard. I had a problem that it would only allow 9 buttons to be assigned through my USB adapter. It took me 2 days to figure it out.

Also, I sent you a private message.
