I've been hearing good things about Dao's controllers. I still stand by my Ransai completely, but for the price I hear they're excellent.

The transition from mini to ASC is a bit difficult, but don't let that stop you from playing. Just remember that a lot of the techniques you pick up to get better you'll have to forget or relearn because they just won't work on an ASC. I was at the mid 20s when I got my Ransai, and the transition took me about two weeks. It was weird relearning everything at first, but it was still a blast.

So fee free to play on the mini, just remember there WILL be a transitional period, and don't let yourself be upset by it. Have fun with the game, that's the important thing.

I just recently bought Pop'n Music 8, and have been playing with a dualshock while waiting for my ASC to arrive. I want a fresh records chart for when my ASC gets here, and I was wondering if there was any way to clear my old dualshock records without deleting the savefile (and the unlocks that I have gotten with it). Thanks!

I don't believe you can do that in Pop'n 8, but no worries. You'll dominate your scores on an ASC, trust me, haha.

I own a DJ Dao ASC, and would recommend them to anyone looking for a quality arcade experience. Playing on a mini is like playing a totally different game, so if you start playing it before you get an ASC, you will have to totally relearn the game. If you're new to music games, it might help you read notes and get the rhythm down, but that's about it. Personally, I waited until I got my ASC before I started playing Pop'n.

Use either training mode (set the mode to Expert, it'll change your lifebar but Cools will be there) or Taisen mode. S-Challenge mode wasn't available until Carnival.

I kinda meant in Free mode. That's pretty much all I play now that I've unlocked everything.

You can't do it in Free mode, your only option in that regard is to use Training mode wth the Expert mode lifebar. If you already passed the song normally, play it with Expert guage for score and you should have pretty much the same experience.

Again not perfect, but it's about the best you can do. You might be able to turn Cools on independently in Training though because of Taisen mode. Sadly they're not available in Free mode.

Taisen mode also saves your cool scores, so I'd try that if I were you. Beware there's no PERFECT unless you get 100k cools though, so the three-marker (or whatever it's called) is really hard to get on any song. FCs still award you the two-marker.

Quick question. I have trouble with the chords in This Way (PnM 10) with hand placment since they come up so fast, my hands get jumbled. Also I need help on what to do with the stairs on Twee Pop at the beginning of the song. They kill my scores like no other. =(

Which difficulty are you referring to for each?

I passed my second 42 last night (Oi Punk EX from Pop'n 7) and almost passed my first real 43 (Screen EX), which was pretty damn cool. :3
