I tried that with a few songs, Arkie. I don't see how one can comprehend 5 and 6 button smashes at a really fast pace though, like most 40s (and Trauma Punk, with jackhammer chord button mashing). A song like that ends up just looking like a blob of unreadable notes on some mid-30s... and I guess in turn leaves me hitting buttons in frustration, causing the Groove gauge to sharply drop...

I'll work on that though. Thanks otaku and Arkie

I'd say it's really a combination of both, I couldn't pass Hip Rock 3 EX until Arctures told me I needed to just "get better" through experience, so I am guessing next time you need help you should just ask Arctures again

Ok, so I'm looking at a video of Hip Rock 3 EX. Not to be brash but I fail to see the comprehension part. Most of the beginning and last half is chord smashing various buttons. Not that I'll even come close to reading that kind of a chart ever, but how does one comprehend 5 and 6 button smashes alternating notes... It can't be comprehended. That or one's reflexes have got to be insane.

That said, otaku and Arctures, I'm sleepy, so i'm going to um. go to sleep soon. or play pop'n. same difference? you decide!

1. You will, and then 5 tries later you'll beat it, like me a month ago. Just takes getting there.

2. HS4 isn't too bad on that song, and I'm reading a lot faster now thanks to pop'n taisen mode. KAPPA READS IT AT HS5 X_X

3. It has been 100k'd, therefore anyone my level can pass it, which basically means me, bdent, and anyone higher.

4. You will get used to 6 button smashes. Start with Powerfolk 6 on 8, it's brilliant with chords. Then Cyber Rockabilly is good.

5. The beginning is the toughest part, I can't do it well at all, and I ALWAYS drop down to nothing. After that, the chords are fairly easy, especially to someone who can pass 41s. The trick is finding the 6 and 9 combinations to reach your hands over, which is what I used training mode for to slow the song down.

6. The last half is the easiest part, it's the slowdown that's really hard (try reading disjointed 6-button hits at slow speeds when the disjoints almost go into the next 16th note O_O). Again, the last half is figuring out the 6-9 chords to switch to right side for a hit.

7. Don't forget, even I thought this was impossible for ME to pass until about a day before I passed it. Comprehension increases greatly if you just slow the song down. I discovered the benefit of training mode, if you'll believe me on that ;P

Anyone have tips for Lamento, Cyber Gagaku, Grunge-Des, or Oi Punk 0? I read Lamento at HS4 comfortably right now, Cyber Gagaku at 3, Grunge-Des at 4, and Oi Punk 0 at 2 with TONS of towel (I don't know why I can't read it at 3 O_O).

heres what i reccomend...once you get to the 40 barrier.

S RANDOM.
you will start to get really complex combinations and have to be quicker.. so you will end up being able to read 41s no problem if you use s random \ random on 30-39s.

Didn't help me at all :/ I just don't understand the fascination with s-rand, and playing it for hours upon hours did nothing but make my timing worse

Try Symphonic Metal Hyper on Sran. I'm not sure how helpful it is, but it's FUN AS HELL.

Don't expect it to come instantly though. Like everything else, this takes practice, and there's no way around it.

Help...

I used to pass Asian Concerto on EX all the time, but now I always make a lot of mistakes at the ending. I could never pass it again.

Same with Forest Snow EX actually.

BTW, I use the PS2 controller. It seems that when I pass a new song, I get worse at an old song.

Here's an AWESOME tip for any popper of any level. If you want to do good, play while you're in a good mood. Play after a really good day at work, after a day out, after a nice relaxing morning, whatever. When you feel like you just have the energy to just let your hands move as fast as they can, that's the time to be doing good. When I passed Trauma Punk EX the other day I was in a great mood and was just having a good day overall, so I was relaxed and just having fun with it. If you play when you're tired or frustrated or angry, you'll lose skill and it'll only get worse the longer you play in that session.

So true, if i'm having a bad day I seem to be more tense, and my shoulders and arms are just killing me afterwards.

Also, i'm on the 33-34 barrier, anyone know any easy ones or any other songs that will help me? Thanks.

Try J-Soul (Kouyou) on EX without any high-speed.
Try Beyond the Earth hyper on high speed X 2.
Daikenkai (Hip Rock) on Hyper might be a good choice too.
Or Monde des Songe (Fantasy) on EX at high speed X 2.

Default Pop'n Music in Japan

I just came from Japan and I've played Pop'n Music. I must tell you all that it is really popeular there and almost all the school kids have mastered it. To play this game I had to wait over 3 hours in a long long...line. Lets face it, this is one of the most addictiong games out there and it is for all ages.
