Yu-Gi-Oh isn't the only Konami anime. There's:
-One Goemon series.
-Three Salamander OVAs. Two were based on the Gradius games.
-Four TwinBee OVAs.
-One Zone of the Enders series.

It could just be about what it's like to have fun in the Pop'n world -- much like PaRappa The Rapper was... He didn't really solve anything with music - hell, each episode didn't even revolve around music, but there was almost always a BGM.
