I know p'n'm is supposed to be the hardest of the bemani series, but how does it compare to iidx?
There was a difficulty rating on an older version of bemanistyle, but i think i new one would be helpful. also helpful would be comparisons between iidx and p'n'm difficulties.
(Obviously, this would help me decide to branch out into other bemani as i'm mostly play ddr atm)

For example, Vaiocana (one of the hardest PnM songs) in Hyper difficulty is a lot easier than AA in the Another difficulty...

IIDX is about reading impossible notecharts, Pop'n is about moving your hands at breakneck speeds to wider, almost as impossible notecharts.

Now I can get to Chalenge, but me still on five-button before getting used to it as well catching up with galoping pop-kuns!)
Beatmania IIDX is new to me (although I see alot of vid-game videos such as airflow and other few...), so I tend to get Es on my Beginer mode. But maybe it's not hard as Pop'n.. Depend what you are learning first and practice.

Hence, why you have no reason to comment on this topic. I know for a fact that pop'n is harder.
I've found that most IIDX players can play just about all the anothers, but climbing to top of the pop'n difficulty mountain requires some serious skill. Did I mention that you have to do it on 9 spaced out buttons? Well, dewgy already did.

I think the main reason a lot of good IIDXers are around is simply because there's more of them. The American IIDX community is also more focused on score drilling, competition, and forced improvement; whereas the Pop'n community is for the most part a lot more laid back. They both take a damned solid amount of skill, it's just that IIDX is easier to find time to play, considering you can probably play it at 2AM, as opposed to Pop'n on an ASC, haha.

I'm pretty sure I could pass 42's in a month or two if I actually had an ASC, hell, even my mini, when it gets here. Thing is, there are so many ridiculous anothers in IIDX that it's almost impossible to get really good really fast. I've been playing for a year and a half and still have four anothers left to pass ;_;
I'm pretty sure I could clear everything in Pop'n albeit Cowboy in less than a year, from what I have played, Pop'n is really not that bad. Also, Pop'n has nothing like Mei. I would say AA [a] too, but Cowboy is close right?
Also, Ryu or whatever your name is, I don't think you have a right to talk in this topic either, let alone be rude to people that don't deserve it, considering I am leagues more experienced in IIDX then you are. Don't go around parading yourself like an elitest with no backup. I know players who have played for much longer than I have and still can't clear everything, and alot of the best players have one or two songs they can't do. Saying that every IIDX player can do all the anothers is a pretty brash statement for a nobody like you to make.

It also depends on if you are playing using "Cool" timing in pop'n as well. Just as many skilled IIDX players can't pass several hard songs, there are many skilled pop'n players who can't either. There are more 43's than just Cowboy and songs with similar difficulty.

Saying that every IIDX player can do all the anothers is a pretty brash statement for a nobody like you to make. | Well, he stated just how much of each game he'd played, which equated to squat. So my commnet stands. I most certainly can talk since I've been around each for a few years now, and that I've played enough IIDX to know. But I'm mostly focused on pop'n. I'd swear that IIDX is some new age form of torture. A tough moaintain to climb intially, but a lot more managable once you have the fundamentals down.
I've known a few good IIDX players and they all have flown through most of the anothers. I'm not saying that IIDX is easy by any means, but climbing that mountain is just a tad bit easier. Now, if you don't like the tone of my responses. Continue to direct the hate mail my way. I mean what i say, and say what I mean. But, I'm man enough to admit when someone as superior argument, and that honor goes dewgy.
So on with the show.

When I first started IIDX, I sucked, so I started playing Popn'. Somehow, after getting stuck on Popn', I tried playing IIDX and I was actually decent. <_<
So yeah, I find both games to be fun and equally hard. If I had to choose one though, it'd probably be Popn', since IMO it's more for fun rather than breaking your fingers on IIDX. (lol Quasar 14A)

case in point: many people can 100k songs in popn, i havent seen hardly anyone 200k anything outside of 5.1.1 in IIDX
im only moderately decent at both games and ive been playing them since 2001
personally i think pop'n is alot easier to read

I think that given both the aspects of the games they have the same or almost same difficulty. I guess it depends on what game you start off on first too though. Also like the above poster said, IIDX is way easier to play more of because in the morning/late night you won't wake people up with a IIDX controller unlike the Pop'n ASC controller/mini controller. Pop'n has some hard songs, but so does IIDX. They are both difficult in their own ways.
