Default Pop'n Music Be-Mouse, help needed

Hi all. On a recent trip to Japan I picked up a copy of Pop'n Music Be-Mouse for the PC. Unfortunately I don't read any Japanese, and I haven't been able to get the game working. I was wondering if anybody here would be able to tell me how to get the game running.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

The first thing you need to do is install the software on the CD that came with the mouse. The installation should start automatically once you put the CD in the drive, but if it doesn't, find setup.exe on the CD and run it. Then, plug the mouse in, wait until Windows recognizes it, and start the game via the Windows Start Menu or by pressing the red button on the mouse.

The game itself is set up like any PS2 Pop'n game, so the menus, layout, etc. will be familiar to you. You control the game menus and everything else from that point on using the Pop'n buttons on the mouse.

Hope this helps.

Here's a question: are you running XP or Vista/7? Make sure you have your Windows installation disc handy on you, and --

--

If you're running XP, go to Control Panel > Region and Language Settings. Click on the Advanced tab, and then if install files for East Asian language support isn't checked, do so. Hit Apply; insert your installation CD if and when prompted.

Then, click the next tab. Under Language for non-Unicode Programs (or something simlilar) change your setting to Japanese. Hit OK, and restart your computer; then install the Be-Mouse software as normal, then refer to SegaMVS's post above.

--

If you're running Vista or Windows 7, it's pretty similar - click the Start Orb and click on Control Panel, then click on All Control Panel Items if it's not already in classic mode. Then, from there, go to Region and Language Options, click on the Keyboards and Languages tab, and then click on the Install/uninstall languages... button; follow the on-screen prompts to install Japanese (or, more broadly, East Asian language support.

Afterward, click on the Administrative tab and under Language for non-Unicode Programs, click on the Change system locale... button, and in the dialog box that pops up, change the language to Japanese.

Hit OK. It'll ask you if you want to restart; hit yes. Once restarted, install the Be-Mouse software as normal and refer to SegaMVS's post above.

Thanks for the advice, but I'm still having problems with it. Once I changed the language/region settings I have been able to install the game, and my computer is detecting the mouse as far as letting me use it like a regular mouse, but the pop'n music controller part of it seems entirely unresponsive.

Whenever I attempt to launch the program I keep getting this message:

Any ideas?

The game thinks the mouse is not connected, so it won't start. Try unplugging the mouse, rebooting the computer, and plugging it back in, and see if it recognizes the mouse correctly. You could also try plugging it into a different USB port.

Once I plugged the mouse in again it worked fine. Thanks for the help!
