PS3 - popn?

Anyone else worried about the PS3 launch affecting popn? when it finally comes out, the new arcade mixes will most likely be ported to PS3 thus requiring us all to buy new systems which will suck. its possible they may put them in ps2 format for a little bit since im sure it will be backwards compatable but they will def start coming out on ps3.

is bemani exclusive in japan to playstation? it would be cool if they made popn like DDR on xbox with downloadable songs and whatnot

The arcade mixes use a computer. :B This thread has been made like 2 years early, and Pop'n really isn't all that graphics intensive to need new hardware atm I don't think.

NONE of the Bemani games have gotten anywhere near the level where they'd need a PS3 to run. Unless Sony goes ahead and stops companies from making new games for the PS2, I don't see Konami ever wasting their time bringing Bemani to PS3. It wouldn't be like going from PS1 to PS2; there's memory card and controller compatability issues, along with the fact that not nearly as many people are going to buy a PS3 due to the fact that it's six hundred fucking dollars.

EDIT: No, Bemani isn't excusive to PS in Japan. There were DC Pop'n and DDR releases, an N64 DDR game, various GB Bemani games, and most recently DDR Mario Mix for GC.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say if Bemani does a console switch, it's probably going to end up on the Wii. Current-gen controller support, cost effective development, and just enough horsepower to do what they need it to.

the problem is if they keep on making arcade games pop'n will be released to console. so it will be on ps3 doesn't need good graphics to be on ps3, but the games will be on blueray so each game will have like 500+ songs!!!!

i would buy a ps3 for popn if they released a popn super game with like every song from 1-12 on 1 game

No, the games would be on blueray so they'd take up about 10% of the available space.

I think the only Bemani games that use a significant portion of a DVD space are the IIDX games, thanks to their videos.

Switching consoles would be a BAD idea. I really don't want to spend money to buy brand new controllers/adapters.

Well, with Konami's renewed relationship with the Big N, I wouldn't be surprised to see Pop'n on the Wii.

I'm hoping it might be on Gamecube. It would be the first Japan-only game I'd care enough to import on the purple cube.

Yeah, there needs to be less Sony love and more Nintendo love.
PS2 gets all of the stuff, and the ps3 probably will too.

I don't see the jump to PS3 in the near future. When the PS2 came out, didn't some Beatmania games continue to get released on the PS? And yeah, I don't think games like this are a main priority for the new hardware. That's just me and my wishful thinking though (no PS3 for me anytime soon due to cost and the fact that I want a Wii like no one's business).

I hope they continue to be PS2 games atleast 2-3 years after the PS3 release. :< That would really suck if I had to buy a PS3 close to launch.
