question about upgrades to a machine

Once you have a machine. How does one go about getting the latest upgrade? I know that when you buy the latest upgrade you can get the pops, the banner, the poster, the flyers, the arch, all that stuff. But who exactly do you buy this stuff from? Do you need to have 'arcade connections' (like be a legit arcade?) or is it open for the general public?

And also, can you buy the new machines directly from these people? I am so confused. I know ways to find used machines, but what about new ones?

Well in the US you essentially can't do it legitimately, unless you happen to be a certain arcade/bowling center in Winchendon. :P You'd need to know someone who has purchase rights in Japan in order to acquire a machine, although there's always places getting blacklisted for selling to the US. Now in Japan, I'm pretty sure you just need access to an arcade distributor, which anyone who actually owns a machine should in the first place anyway, though I know Konami can be very strict about who they sell their upgrade kits to.
