Questions about Pop'n 10 (and it's unlocking system ¬¬')

I have recently gotten my very own Pop'n 10, but I hated that roulette thingy. I have heard about "unlocking secrets by time instead of getting them in the roulette", so is it true? Is there a way to unlock stuff by just playing instead of using this unlocking system? And how can I activate it?

Disable the roulette unlock system. Only song play time is counted towards the time unlock. I fully unlocked Pop'n 10 through the roulette, but I guess that's not for everyone.

Jam the hell out of the red button before it starts as fast as you can alternating 2 fingers. Doing this I pretty much unlocked something every go, no matter if I did all 3 songs in a course or just failed the first one or two on purpose.

But if you're gonna do it that way, might as well just get a save file.

yeah, as mr gains said, if you rapidly hit the red button as the roulette comes up, you unlock it pretty fast. doing that, i unlocked popn 10 faster than a lot of the other games.

I've disabled the unlock system, but unlocked 2 or 3 songs using the methods you described before ^^
guess I'll stik to the disabled unlock system, though. According to some reserarch, you can unlock everything in 9 hours of gameplay, which isn't that much considering it's a game that I love to play

Lucky. I never unlocked a single thing in 10's evil unlocking system. I wasted an hour of my life leaving it on.

If going off of that damn roulette system: Go to Expert Mode, press start to fail the first song, mash the red button until you get something. Or, just get to the roulette and pray for the three orange bars. Get those three orange bars and you get everything in one swoop (except for the Study Land character, I think).

Time Unlock, on the other hand, is the way to go. Much less frustrating.

Ah, that roulette was beyond agonizing for me. I unlocked a few things and gave up after hours of play.

Will disabling the roulette work for Challenge Mode or is it for Normal Mode only? I'd previously disabled the roulette and started playing 5-button Challenge Mode to unlock the Omake pictures, but I have yet to unlock any songs.
