i need to vent.

i bought a used DASC and popn 8 from a very nice boy on this forum. i also bought the swap disc from someone on this forum. i go home... i set it all up... AMAZING. i couldn't have been happier.

the next day (yesterday). i go to play it... using the slide card, i managed to BREAK my ps2. :/

i played popn for one day and now my ps2 is broken...

does anyone know the chances of me getting the fliptop mod and putting that on my broken ps2 and it still working? all i broke was the tray, it wont go in or out without an obsence amount of force. i am so depressed.

No offense, but the fliptop was the easy way to go from the beginning. Anyway, if the drive will still be able to read your games, go ahead and get the fliptop-- just don't ever use the eject button again- you'll just have to load Swapmagic and your game by top-loading.

If the drive can't read your game... then... I'd say it's pretty much broken, but I'm sure a real good PS2 aficionado could tell you better than I.

Yikes, a slide card. Thats a recommended way to break the PS2. You shouldve started with the fliptop right off.

I say installing a fliptop would fix your otherwise broken PS2, seeing as it bypasses the PS2's original drive completely. But yeah if you broke your PS2's drive spinner thingie or something, then you're pretty much out of luck. Just go buy another used PS2 for $100 and fliptop that.

Also, slide cards (or a knife, in my case) work really well if you're careful. I've been using the swap magic + knife combo for about 2 years.

That sucks, though.

hi, i use the slide card too.. it's alright, but i dont wanna mod my ps2. but yeah, how exactly is yer ps2 broken? cuz if it just doesn't eject, u probably didn't do it right, like the white thingy is still in there, and then you'd have to use the slidecard to move it all tha way to tha right? or iunno lol

Sounds like you probably snapped the tray retrieval mechanism. Definitely not good. However, if you use Swap Magic and a fliptop/openfaced PS2, you might be able to work around it.

thank you all for your kind words.

i am purchasing the fliptop today. then... i will push the tray in as far as i can and never hit the eject button again! if after doing that it doesnt work... pout... ill just get a used one and put the fliptop in that.

too bad i didnt realize what a bad idea the slide card was in the first place... it worked so nicely the first time...

the last 2 days have been soo frustrating... seeing my brand new DASC sitting there and not being able to use it... argghhhhhhh....
