Total Tokens: 223.40 Donate Tokens | Americans are a strange people who like bad artwork Every time Konami releases a so-called "American" version it's always interesting to see what exactly Konami, and subsequently some Japanese people, think Americans enjoy in terms of art and music. Apparently, to Konami, America will always be stuck in the 80's of random flourescent colors and squatly drawn characters. It seemed to be this way with the beatmania release. Accenting that game was a constant looping of what sounded like a midi track that was an hour long sped up until it could be condensed into five seconds. Not to mention the colors that blinded with what seemed like a strange nebulous rainbow shoved into a neon light. This is the estimated reason why America will not accept this game while confusing Konami even more as to why their "American" execution of the original games that had worked well in Japan hardly receive a cult following in America.
All that really needed to be done was to create the same game, but transcribe the hiragana and katakana parts into Roman characters. Although, evidenced from the screenshots, the company has yet to notice the mistake they keep making repeatedly. Perhaps one reason for their not giving up on this late 80's aesthetic is because it worked with the only Konami game that did well in America, namely, Dance Dance Revolution. However, with its release and eventual absorption into mainstream culture, the stimulus behind its popularity was not because it blended into the American milieu, but rather because it was new, different, and overall Japanese. What the players of that game liked was not the "American" versions, but went to arcades for the imported versions.
America will never have its own culture because it is the conglomeration of other cultures that create what is deemed "American," although the definition changes depending on the person asked. Perhaps everything written previous is stretching a little too far; however, it's tiring to see the palette of cultures be represented by blinding neon and fluorescence.

I have a weekness on cartoon rabbits. *snuggle* So up points for me. (I would play as that if the cast are dissapointing me.)
Oh well, I will wait and see... And maybe show the screencaps to my sis to see what she thinks. (Since she knows Pop'n Music too.)
P.S. A bit off, but originaly when I thought that if Konami ever release Pop'n Music, I thought of the US title: "Pop'n Music USA". Wtih Nyami and Mimi in Uncle Sam clothes. But... I guess that did not happen. ^^;

Also, for the record, I'm still buying it so that I can actually play it and see whether or not the gameplay is bad for myself.
Also, chubs from VJ Army reports Scat and Anthem Trance being playable, so there's your complete initial 9-tune songlist.

Also, for the art, I'm just glad they didn't (so far) try to remake Roki like what they did with Sanae-chan and Mary.

She'd have a dumbed down name of her name like
Roxie the brat witch or something but that'd be a strech because that isnt 80s

Anwyays, I find it amusing that Starmine (pop'n mixx) is in the game. I wonder if people will wonder what the "pop'n" part means...

Poet would be a little school girl nun. Who just wants to dance at the bible hall. Her name would become Page
