Lesson... Arch0wl doing it one handed was the first video I had seen after I realized what Pop'n was. I had seen that Classic 4 video but that was before I was even a rhythm gamer and I had no idea what was going on.

For me it was Daikenkai Long version on PnM 9, it was at an anime convention in 2005 if I recall correctly. I remember I tried the thing on 9-Line without speed mods (and failed miserably)... However, I knew about the existence of PnM way before that, thanks to the four songs that made it into DDR EXTREME -JP- ^_^

I saw Pop'n Music 1 & 2 in an old old EGM but the 1st song I heard was Smile the Night Away at Otakon 2002 (on a Dreamcast!). [Note: I also saw IIDX in motion there for the first time, too. 6th Style was new and everyone played Jelly Kiss.]

I didn't care too much until I noticed PnM had Urusei Yatsura's theme on it and heard HOUSY POP, Love^2 Sugar, and 100sec Kitchen Battle!! and played DDR Extreme.

So yeah, I bought 8CS...

Well, the first popn I played was Popn GB so one of those. First real pop'n I played was Pop'n 9, so I think Missa or Taiga. Pastoral also has a sort of natsukashi-ness to it.

Although I've heard of Daikenkai, Love^2Sugar, Mahou no Tobira, pure, Moonlight Densetsu, Lupin '78, Cruel Angel's Theis (thnx, Mokai @YouTube), the first song I remembered playing was Pichara from Maruko-chan.

The weird part was that it was aired on Channel 18 here in LA, every 7:30 AM. If I remembered it correctly, it got replaced by a J-drama.

After I had been playing DDR for about 2 years and IIDX for about 1 year, I saw some tatsujins of Pop'n 8 AC (Trauma Punk, Melo Punk, Des-Reggae, Darkness 1, Classic 6, etc) and I was hooked by the music selection.

I got Pop'n 8 CS when it came out, and then every game since then.
