1. Swap Magic should make all JAPANIESE games work. (I mean for your PS2. And I mostly see slim PS2's.) So that counts alot of Pop'n as well.

2. For controllers... The offical one I herd is expensive. But you should check two custom controller threads (Desktop Arcade and DJ Dao) in this Pop'n sub-forum. Or buy a mini.

And please type proerly next time.

The best thing to do is get a Japanese PS2, swaping discs only leads to expensive scratched discs.

The best place to get Pop'n Music and a Japanese PS2 is in my thread in the trading post. All prices are negotiable. Link

If you have the money, I'd suggest a chipped PS2, it saves the hassle of having to swap discs all the time and waiting for the game to boot. Otherwise, fliptop is probably your best option.

As for controllers, there's three options. Official, DA or DAO. All three of them are all right. I have never played on a DAO but I own a Ransai and have played on a DA before, and they work nicely. It's whatever suits you, I guess.

Okay, I took care of nicx, so that's over and done with for now.

Anyway, I would once again HIGHLY suggest a chipped PS2 if you can afford it, and as for controller, a DAO (if you can afford it). Of course, people sell their controllers in the Marketplace from time to time, usually at or under $200.

All PS2 versions of pop'n music work with Swap Magic...the PS1 games do not. Though if you bought a Japanese PS2 you could play all of them. I play on a U.S. PS2 with Swap Magic, and I've never had a case of games being scratched in the 16 months I've had it. Any scratches my brother and I have had on our games came from negligence on our part.

Here's a site with a link to a slim Japanese PS2 for buy. Quite expensive, though:

Buy PlayStation2 Console Charcoal Black (SCPH-90000CB) - Order Now!

Lol, I don't think he really explained how swapping leads to scratch discs.

Just get a fliptop...

if you don't want to swap just do the swap and leave the ps2 on, i've left mine on for 3 months at a time, nothing happened, had the same ps2 since like 2002 and it's still going strong, i recently changed it into a clear fliptop case and it's still working like when i got it.....so don't worry about swapping.

Are you sure ps1 versions of the game don't work with swap magic? I got the latest one 5 or 6 months ago and it came with a disk for ps2 and a disk for ps1 games. I haven't tried it but I have no reason to believe a swap magic ps2 cant play ps1 popn games. Anyone have any info on this?

the disk is not for ps1 games, it comes with another disk that is for CD based ps2 games, ie: blue bottom.
