Marketplace Rating: 0 | a note about unlock methods:
i actually unlocked popn 10 the fastest of all but just quitting out of songs (by holding start when the song starts) and then pressing the button quickly when the roulette wheels came up. 12s is definitely the best so far
7 - fulfill certain requirements and new songs show up on the songlist. play them and you ulock them. its very hard to know what to do to get new songs to pop up (i think this is how it works)
8 - after each arcade play-thru, you stop a dial on a number wheel and move that many spaces on a board game like map unlocking things along the way. It can take a while to fully unlock the game
9 - roll dice and move gambler Z around a dungeon, hoping that you run into songs along the way and eventually ending up at a boss that nets you a song. This one takes forever, and it's a maze, so if you want a specific boss song, like colors, it may take you a while to find tran in the dungeon. If you exit a play through early, you roll fewer dice
10 - stop spinning roulette wheels. it can screw you, or if you know how to work it, it can be your best friend. this is definitely the most widely hated unlock method (my opinion: but it really isnt that bad)
11 - i have no clue! i dont own it
12 - throw shuriken at moving targets to unfurl scrolls that represent the seasons. easy and consistent, and it can go fairly quickly.
if you want to choose games based (at least partially) on unlock method, i think order from best/fastest to worst/most aggravating or confusing goes

Marketplace Rating: 0 | As for the language barrier, I soley rely on remembering my favorite songs by recognizing the artwork for each song. As a result, unfortunately, I don't know most of the names of my favorite songs. Quite a humorous situation!
Navigating the menus won't be difficult, since it's all pretty self-explanatory. Whenever I get a new Pop'n mix, I always download a saved game from GameFAQs or whatever and play on free mode. (I know, I'm lazy.) I have more fun when I "just play" instead of going through a painful unlock system. (And yes, Pop'n 10's unlock system is very frustrating, because you have to stop your cursor on the right "phrase" in order to get an unlock. Most of the time, you don't get the right one and it gets very annoying.)
My hands and the bottom of my fingers hurt after playing for a while. I slap kind of hard I guess. Also, when I sit down for several hours, my legs become very stiff, and my back really hurts, so it's best to probably stand, or even sit in a chair while playing. (This goes for IIDX also.)
Have fun with Pop'n! | |

The only advice I'm going to give you is for songs under 150 bpm and chords etc try to use your fingers as one big mass to hit the buttons instead of spreading them out like you do for IIDX. After watching the Rinsei perfect video a bunch of times I can pretty safely say it's the quickest way to get better and the way that all the japanese players play their best. | Uh, could you explain this in more detail? Aren't you supposed to keep your fingers together when doing simple stuff/chords and spread them apart to hit multiple buttons? Quote: |

Marketplace Rating: 1 | Going back to the different categories of songs again, what are ee'mall songs? Is there some sort of digital mall in the game where you can "buy" songs?
In the fffff EX video that's in the Pop'n 13 CS thread, near the end of the song there's a lot of stuff on the left side and then there's a lot of stuff on the right side. For these kinds of situations, is it best to do all the stuff on each side with one hand (And let the other hand only deal with the red button and everything on the opposite side of the red button)?

however, ee'mall has no use for american arcade machines, since we cant hook up to the network (again, like with eamuse). the console games, though, have the ee'mall songs in them, but they are generally locked at the start.

Don't treat Pop'n like you do IIDX. It's not about a solid set playstyle, it's not about an endurance trial, it's not about getting everything RIGHT, it's about having fun with the game and eventually getting good at it, learning on your own. Everyone does the game differently and has their own quirks in how they play. For example, I tend to bounce around a lot to the music and hit the lower row with my thumbs, while some people use their palms for everything and stand very still, while some other players focus in and use every part of their arms to hit the buttons, and even others still hit the last note of Kyougeki with their head.
If you ask a million questions and try to get every single aspect of the game "right" in some regard, you'll end up blowing any kind of fun you'll have with it.
Just fucking play the game, dude. You'll figure this all out on your own. Especially in Pop'n, everyone handles every situation differently. Just play, and you'll figure out how to get past certain hurdles on your own, in a way that's comfortable for you and possibly only you.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | I think Azure asked all these questions because he's just really excited about getting his stuff. I'm excited about getting my DASC (should be here Thursday) and I could see myself making a topic like this to get me even more excited.
Also, it's not like it's doing any harm.
Oh yeah, I have a question too for dual shock users who have switched to a controller. I'm at the point where I can do lower 30's with a ds. Will using a pop'n controller be like starting all over again? Because I want this game to last as long as it can

Marketplace Rating: 0 | Just have fun. I have to say, as much as I love IIDX, all I wanna do now is play Pop'n. I even like a lot of IIDX songs better, but that doesn't stop me from whoring out Crayon shin-chan and Acapella.
I love Acapella.
Get pumped up man, you're in for the long run. I've been playing for about 2 weeks or so and i'm up to 26's, so don't be intimidated. I love pop'n

If you're with Pop'n 10, turn off the stupid roulette thing at the end of Arcade mode. It's faster if you unlock it with time release, and even then, that takes long.
Have fun. | |
