What should I keep in mind when I start Pop'n?

One thing that has been bothering me lately. If your hands are a little sweaty, but not so sweaty that its liquid, then your palms will tend to grip the buttons. This makes the game unplayable past 30's. The problem I was having was that I was playing Taiko no Tatsujin whilst I was waiting for the Pop'n machine to free up quite often. The rubberised grip made my hands sticky, so gloves are a really good idea imo. They will also stop your hands bruising if you go completely medieval on the game

Wouldn't gloves slow you down and restrict your mobility?

No, just make sure that they have no grips on them. I have a pair of rollerblade protective fingerless gloves. The palm is just all kevlar type stuff that just skims straight over the buttons (makes swiping your hand across four buttons VERY easy). Anything with grip will screw you up though. I imagine that just a pair of cheap thin gloves will be fine. Just chop off the fingers
