yea setup 2 seems most reminicient of the old beatmanias, as in like using the left arrow for the far left keys, but the upper L's and R's work fine with the higher yellow and white popkuns

man like some of my early Internet Ranking scores were all Dualshock! haha

For playing IIDX on Dualshock, I set the buttons to Pop'n Music's default style of config, with L1/L2 as the turntable.

I have an ASC but I use the dual shock for like... normal mode... that makes normal difficult for me... using the ASC normal is piss easy...

I was able to play level-28 songs on the Dual Shock at the height of my skill. When I first got my mini controller, I was able to do just as good and better.

Joystick, almost for as long as I've been playing PM, and it's reached the point where I'm not comfortable with anything else. Not even the "correct" controller.

For the button assignments, I set the two leftmost buttons to the left blue and green, both buttons to the right of them to red, the next two to the right blue and green, and the top and bottom right to right yellow and white, respectively. On the stick, left and top are left white and yellow; right and down are right white and yellow.

You'd be amazed at how natural this is for me. I have no trouble whatsoever except for fast left white/yellow streams and complicated sections with lots of whites and yellows, and even then I usually do better than I would with the PM controller. Scales are no problem whatsoever, and chords that'd normally destroy me are doable.

Wow... I would've imagined that the Dualshock be much harder than the PM controller.... much like it was for me in IIDX when I tried it on a whim.

I played Pop'n Music for the first time in the arcade just the other day.

I played Take Me To..., peppermint and Water Melon Woman. I wasn't used to the arcade controllers at all, and kept on mashing the wrong ones. But it was still fun.

lol ya it's so fun.. i want an asc so bad, but i'm scared i'll get tired of it, but anyways... too bad its 1 dollar just to play on pnm (6th at orbitz) fer 3 songs, 2 if u lose lol

Fast songs like lamento with a lot of 8th 1+2 hits and chords are hard on setup2
but songs with scales and other 16th runs are pretty easy. I can do classic 4 non random but I can't clear eurasia rock (non random at least).
